Taken from our site. Figured it'd be useful. This writing has more then one source, grabbed from here and there.

As well as being physically robust Dwarves are also mentally tough. To say that a Dwarf knows his own mind is something of an understatement.
Dwarfs are set in their ways and extremely determined. They are supremely confident in the virtues and values of their civilization, and are openly scornful of the achievements of other ‘less accomplished’ races. This combination of physical and mental durability makes Dwarfs steadfast fighters. They will often fight to the last rather than admit defeat, and rarely run away even if the situation appears hopeless.

Dwarfs take matters of oaths and bargains very seriously indeed. A Dwarf who is unable for some reason to keep a bargain he has made will suffer considerable anguish and loss of face.

Although very determined and matter-of-fact in their daily lives, once a Dwarf snaps his whole life collapses like a mighty tree blown down in the wind. It is because they take such matters so seriously that they rarely forgive acts of betrayal or disloyalty. In fact, if there’s one thing a Dwarf can do better than anything else it is hold a grudge. The Dwarf language has no word for forgiveness, but many subtle variations on revenge, recompense and retribution.

Duty to King and hold is a sacred thing to Dwarfs. A Dwarf bound by oath to serve a King will give his life rather than face the dishonor of failure. A King surrounded by his personal guard is the keep in the center of the army: grim-faced, unyielding and immovable, the living personification of the Dwarf spirit.

Dwarfs are above all very proud individuals and do not cope easily with failure or personal loss. Should a Dwarf suffer some terrible personal tragedy, he will be inconsolable. The loss of his family, his hoard, or failure to uphold a promise can seriously unhinge the mind of any Dwarf. Young Dwarfs forsaken in love often never recover from the blow to their pride. Whatever the cause, Dwarfs who have suffered what they perceive to be a serious loss of honor will often forsake the fellowship of their family and friends for a life of self-imposed exile.

Dwarves have a racial love of gold. This is most commonly observed as a glint in the eyes when jewelry is in sight, or a sped up heartrate at the mention of treasure. Some dwarves, however, have an insatiable lust for the precious metals. Often, these individuals have addictive personalities and tend to be poor at holding on to gold.

This often leads a dwarf to one of two professions: Adventurer or Miner.

I'm curious, how would you order the following priorities for a dwarf? king, hold, gods, ale, women, gold, food, family, race, alliance, guild or maybe, it might be different for each dwarf

Its different for each dwarf. A stern old dwarf, like my character would have the following:

The King is the physical embodiment of the holds power. They would be rather synonymous to eachother. This is a matter of honour. A soldier swears loyalty for his king and hold and will die for them before bringing dishonour to himself or his hold.

The God my dwarf follows is Khaz. Khaz Modan translated to 'Mountain of Khaz' Khaz is the short form of Khaz'Goroth, the titan who created the dwarves and this knowledge has been slowly discovered and what not. Many 'new' priests pay homage to him rather then the 'Holy Light' which was started by the humans. It's Garbhan's belief that the interests of Khaz are to have the Dwarves thrive, so to work for his god, he must work for his people. The importance of gods is effected by ones profession. Obviously, priests and paladins will have this at the heart of what they do.

Water carries bacteria and parasites. To make water safe, you boil it. To make ale, beer, mead etc, you boil water. Beer is safe. That's how it is. However... there is such a thing as a Dwarven alcoholic. If the love of drink is strong enough to effect ones life and start to take control of it... then that's a character that would be great to read about in RP! Personal preference again.

Same with food. Food is needed to survive. Gluttony still happens.

If one is fiercely loyal to their king and clan, it is likely they will be equally loyal to their family. Of course, this changes according to if you've had an argument with an important figure, are 'disowned' or become more ambitious. A hunter, for example, might be fiercely loyal to a poor family, and thus learned their skills by having to provide food. Or, they could have been kicked out of their household and became solitary wanderers making life on their own.

Most Dwarves are supremely confident in the virtues of their civilization compaired to the others, often to the point of arrogance. That's not saying we're undfriendly to others, persay... Garbhan thinks elves are silly. What's so important about the damn trees and squirrels? Gnomes are a race of wonders who require guidance and solid heads. Humans have amazing potential for both good and ill. They are brave, and often foolish, but they build above ground, so how advanced can they be?

Your take on alliance would depend on how proud you are in being a dwarf, what you think of our kingdom, and what you think of the individual races.

A guild is one of two things: a collection of people working for themselves, or a collection of people working for eachother. Again, it would depend on your personality.

Some day I'm going to roll a Dwarf who only speaks Dwarvish and his village dialect which will actually be genuine Scottish Gaelic. True story.

Uh. Don't hold your breath, might be a while. :D
