Hey all, please vote on which rule addition you'd prefer. I don't foresee any problems, but want to nip this potential one now.
The purpose of the contest is to give everyone a small incentive to write the stories in their heads and share them with the rest of the community. I want to make a person who is writing their first story as welcome as some of the more prolific writers.
I also want to make collaborations as welcome as single POV tales. Collaborations can span multiple weeks, so this is where the current ruleset gets fuzzy.
Week 2 included one collaboration from the previous contest that had been added to prior to the 2nd weeks deadline. It didn't win the first week, so I figured this was fair game and no one would object. However, this week the winner of Week 1 (Crimson Tainted Blade) has been expanded. My gut instinct is that once a collaboration has won a week, it is no longer eligible. However, what happens if a few months down the line someone makes an entry that is so singularly impressive that it should be allowed entry into the contest?
Instead of arbitrarily making the rule, I'll leave it up to you guys and gals as to which you'd prefer. I know it's a minor issue, but to insure that the reputation of the site continues to be one of impartiality, I don't want to make a judgement call on something that isn't specified in the rules.
So here are the options:
1: Collaborations that span multiple weeks will be included in any weekly contests when new content has been added prior to that week's deadline, provided the collaboration has never won in any of it's previous entries into the contest (a collaboration can only win once).
2: Collaborations that span multiple weeks will be included in any weekly contests when new content has been added prior to that week's deadline, regardless of whether some of it's older content won in previous weeks or not (a collaboration can win as many times as the voters vote for it).
3: Collaborations that span multiple weeks will be included in any weekly contests when new content has been added prior to that week's deadline, provided the collaboration has not won in the last month (a collaboration can only win once a month).
4: Collaborations that span multiple weeks will be included in any weekly contests when new content has been added prior to that week's deadline, provided the collaboration has not won in the last two months (a collaboration can only win once every two months).
