((***Disclaimer*** This is a completely RP letter))

*A crisp envelope is delivered to the Sanctuary Guild house, post-marked Stormwind*

To Whom It May Concern in the Order of Sanctuary:

About a month ago, I was surprised when I learned that my order was listed ‘kill on sight’ to you. Upon my questions, I learned that no one could come up with a reason for it. I was then under the impression that I was removed. Then I guess one of your members had a run in with one of mine which made us re-listed. To list an entire order over one person is silly and laughable.

The point of this letter is not for the past, but for the current. I have always held Sanctuary and Haven with high respect. However, I have lost respect for Sanctuary. I frankly do not care if you will stoop low enough to list us as such over my actions in the Ruins of Lordaeron courtyard. I feel your banner is nothing but a mask to hide your hypocritical selves behind. To wish for peace and only point the finger at the alliance is no way to have peace come about. If you cannot reprimand your own side for their actions not only are you foolish but also doomed to fail.

I will still never outright attack a member of your order that is not in the middle of an existing battle. I will still always have and will continue share pleasantries while adventuring when coming across a horde until they prove un-honorable first.

House of Ghant attacked my home and we only went to theirs. My intent was never to enter the city or go even after Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, and kept it in the courtyard once we made our presence known. I only wished to draw out the House of Ghant as we did. Ensign me if you wish, but the point remains that you are hypocritical. You say you cannot control the horde. That is no reason I should lay down my sword and die for ‘peace’, that is only a sure fire way to eliminate the alliance instead of living in harmony. Is that really your goal after all? Extinction of the Alliance? Sounds more accurate the longer I see your actions on how you promote ‘peace’.

Itakae is my best friend, and that will never change. No matter what banner she wears. You single her out, and then you are singling me out. I am protection by nature, and I protect my friends. I am not writing of anything that has not already been said on the streets about you. I am just the only one either brave or stupid enough to let you know the general consensus of your actions.

If I am completely wrong in mine as well as many other's opinion, I invite you to share with me the errors of my ways. I still do not wish war, but will serve to protect and issue justice among the Alliance and Horde when needed. No one gets favoritism when trying to cull peace.

Kindest Regards,

Lady Persefani Stargazer
Grand Marshall of Sacred Fire

Vilmah
07-27-2007, 01:31 PM
Vilmah was having a pretty good day. She'd just finished eating an amazing meal, provided by Niethan, who remembered that while she didn't eat meat, vegetables cut into meat-looking shapes were not above her. She was just finishing a piece of squash cut in the shape of a tiny steak when she read the missive.

"..you gotta be kidding me."

With a groan that usually accompanied Vilmah's more heated attitude, she walked inside of the guild hall and grabbed a piece of cherry-scented stationary. Whipping out her pen, she took a deep breath.

Vilmah Bloodborne was known as a diplomat. Diplomacy was her greatest skill. It helped her out of bad situations, it saved lives, and often times it made life far easier than it would have been, had she not been gifted with her "solver tongue".

Of course.. there were ways to anger the tiny orc. Insulting her guild was one of them. She had to calm herself before replying.

Dear miss Persefani,

I don't believe we've met. I've often heard of you from Itakae, who has spoken of you on many occasions. The first time your name came up was when we listed your guild, Sacred Fire, on our Kill on Sight list. She requested that the guild be removed, due to her personal knowledge of your innocense.

We trust Itakae. Her judgement was taken into account as we went over reasons for why the guild had been placed there on the first place.

It became apparent that a mistake might have been made. Perhaps Sacred Fire had been placed on the list due to one of your members. So, we had it placed under a "questionable" status, to be evaluated should we run into another member of your guild.

Your recent attack in the courtyard of the Undercity is probably what set off this letter. The fact of the matter is, you know very little of Sanctuary if you think we place people on our list for little reason, and it is insulting to both myself and Itakae that you would write this letter in such a heated fashion, under false pretenses and ignorance.

Simply put, if you want to call out the House of Ghant, be my guest, but I would reccomend not doing it in the Undercity. When the time comes that the Alliance and the Horde are at peace, and we can openly visit eachothers cities, I will welcome you with open arms and invite you. However at the moment, your safety and reputation is at stake. Do you think it wise to come to the Undercity, where innocents and civillians live and can be caught in a crossfire?

How dare you talk about peace, when open conflict in a city that's already been built on death and rebirth can only open more conflict than is needed?? Of course your guild is questionable, when we see you attacking one of our cities, be it within or outside. There are innocent people there, people who could be hurt, and your questionable actions result in more of the Horde wanting to kill you. Do you think we want that? After all of the work we go through to protect and defend the Alliance, after all of the abuse we suffer at the hands of our own people to say that there might be peaceful and intelligent members of the Alliance.. you show up in the Undercity for combat?

It isn't good strategy. And if you really cared about Itakae, I wouldn't bring her this much grief.

We don't want to attack her friends. We don't want to attack anyone. The Horde are not the savages that we are stereotypically known as, something I hope that you will come to realize if you put your selfish thoughts aside and consider the big picture.

Next time you want to attack the Gaunts, call them out. Don't involve their city. The Undercity does not bellong to the House of Gaunt.

And furthermore, if you want to learn more about Sanctuary, I'd suggest you speak to our Inquisitor. He's shed more of his own blood in the name of peace than you could imagine, and the idea of it being a waste because of your actions is both repulsive and saddening.

Peace will come through understanding. I hope you learn to understand, next time.

Receiving a rush letter in return was a bit shocking to Persefani as she did not even expect a response. She laughed to herself as she read the words in broken Common.

Talking to herself, “As I thought. They immediately take offense to my actions, but not once condemn the actions of their own. Really, this is no surprised and exactly what I expected and stated in my letter.

Heated fashion? I will guess they just don’t understand written common that well. It was not in a heated fashion. It was only a blunt fashion. Clearly different in my mind, but commonly misinterpreted.

Innocence? No innocents where touched as we only struck against seasoned fighters. It is not as if we went to Hillsbrad or similar. They need to learn every time they point a finger that they have … well however many other fingers an Orc has pointing back at them. I myself even have one less finger from this battle. Damn Raudrach…

The Inquisitor huh, that could be one of a million people. I guess I will have to ask Itakae who they are. Still does not answer why they only go after Alliance and not the evils within the horde.”

She crumpled up the letter knowing that this will just become a mud-slinging event and tossed it into a pile of other papers. Letting out a long sigh she knows that she will never strike first, but she also knows if they do, blood will be shed. Killing her is not going to solve anything but only fuel the fire. She said what she needed to.

Laron hears the word on the streets, and thinks purhaps it is time to pay a visit to this Persfani, and maybe Vilmah.

Netheryn
07-27-2007, 05:11 PM
Netheryn stood in the ruins of Lorderon turning his axe this way and that, enjoying the way the moonlight played off of the fresh blood. He always enjoyed when the alliance came to visit.

The aftermath of the battle, if it could be called that, was a gruesome scene. Blood pooled in the cracks of the street and was splashed on the stones of the ruined statues. Several of the brothers Ghant were leading small groups on sorties to flush out the sewers and surrounding forests, but Netheryn identified Radurach in the midst of the other individuals gathered in the courtyard.

Netheryn approached and the brothers greeted one another with nods of respect. Neither were much for words, but they shared a mischievous look.

Netheryn spoke quietly, "I can't help but wonder why these alliance decided to visit. Surely they knew they would find us here." Radurach only shrugged and watched his siamese worry a piece of bloody flesh. The gesture was enough to say that he didn't care why the alliance had come, only that they had. Netheryn couldn't help but agree. The why was never important, really. Only the what, and the what was always the same.

"What does your cat have there?" Netheryn asked as he bent over to get a better look at the siamese.

"Oh...a finger."

(( I hope you don't mind me posting this here, if you do, I can make my own topic for it elsewhere.. Completely RP letter, etc etc..))

Eladis sighed to himself, dusting his palms together as he finished tacking up his last parchment. He hadn't caught wind of the going-ons in the Undercity, nor would he have particularly been able to help defend it in his current state. This healer had his own business anyway, and someone else had been muddling in it.

The bounty was written in a brilliant red, in orcish of course. The blood knight adept never did like writing orcish, but he figured this was the best way to get his revenge. The only way actually, he and his brother was nowhere near skilled to even defend himself against Sacred Fire's attacks. Even with an orcish blade master they stood no chance. Of course, that was why they were in Dustwallow in the first place, to improve..

Skilled arms men of the horde:
Healer Eladis Vant is willing to pay for the proof of demise of any wearing the alliance banner <Sacred Fire>. While minding my own business on an outing to Dustwallow Marsh with my brother, two of these heathens attacked us and did not leave for quite some time. They do not look skilled enough to be in their 70th season, however, you can never be too careful. If you decide to attack them in the same fashion that they attacked us-- as there are monsters present, this is acceptable. If you decide to attack them with a force with more numbers than yourself, this is also acceptable. I am willing to pay for the revenge I cannot get for myself.

Sabachthan
07-28-2007, 03:41 PM
Sabachthan dismissed his troll informant with a smile. The session had been most enlightening. With the development of the House starting to meet fruition as of late, the lord had afforded little time as of late in keeping up with the latest rumors and businesses of Azeroth. However, the attack upon the Undercity, led by that paladin and her allies, both of whom had been cropping up again and again, left him with a feeling that he was missing a piece of the bigger picture. And now he had it.

"Ah, the foolish Alliance," he had thought originally, "Come yet again to purge Azeroth of the evil terrors of the Undercity. Strange how often I have had to 'purge' many of these beasts from defenseless outposts like Freewind Post and Tarren Mill." Many of the faces - - and minds - - were familiar to the shadowpriest.

But now ... now he had a new thought: "Ah, the foolish Alliance, who presume to attack my House by assaulting the Forsaken of the Undercity. The Undercity is not ours, nor are we the Undercity's. Though they succeeded in drawing our attention, did they not realize they would simultaneously draw the attention of the entire Horde?"

And so the Ghants' alignment with the Horde proved as wise as ever.

It had surprised Sabachthan to see the peaceniks of Sanctuary show up in force to help defend the Undercity. Surprised and pleased. Their arrival had been at a most welcome time, when other pathetic examples of men had stood around simply watching the battle rather than aiding in the defense of the lands.

Deciding this was a perfect opportunity to develop his hand at Orcish runescript, he pulled out a parchment and set to writing right away.

Warboss Vilmah of Sanctuary,

The notion of 'peace' is a confusing one to many minds, so bent on war and terror that they clump anything of that sort apart from peace. I have oft heard your organization maligned for its willingness to stand firm and defend the properties of the Horde; apparently the Alliance's notion of standing for "peace" includes you surrendering your lands and your weapons to them so that they might live peacefully as your masters. Likewise, I doubt that many, even among the Horde, could but scoff if I informed them that the House of Ghant, ultimately, also stands for peace.

I was pleased and surprised by the measure of honor shown by members of your organization several nights ago in the courtyard of Lordaeron. (There was an exception, to be sure.) The shaman Diomades stood on the steps and granted healing to all the fighters in the courtyard, while I witnessed a rogue of your organization absolutely rend the maniacal Alliance attackers to shreds. Often the House of Ghant is the only entity within the Horde willing to threaten their lives with the defense of the Horde, forced to fight against greater numbers while those who have more reason than we to fight simply remain as onlookers and critics. That night raised my esteem of Sanctuary for this very reason.

Perhaps we should consider the possibilities here, Warboss Vilmah. Neither of our entities are extraordinarily equipped to field full armies in defense of our lands. I am sure either of us could use the aid and resources of the other. Perhaps one day will see members of Sanctuary and the House of Ghant fighting alongside one another in the mutual defense of the Nether against forces such as Illidan and Kael'Thas. It is a possibility that, in my mind, merits consideration.

Lord Sabachthan Ghant
Second Heir to the House of Ghant

(( As to the above bounty: Those two are commonly found ganking lowbies. Radurach especially has caught them at it often and camped 'em for it. I'll let him know it looks like he has some gold in his future! ))

Persefani
07-28-2007, 05:05 PM
Persefani receives word of proof of the breaking of her code of conduct. She sends out a messenger to get a copy of this. Once received she looks over the evidence remembering the exact time and place this was. “This is while we waiting along side our brethren to venture into the depths of Onyixa’s lair these two wondered off. I wondered where they went.”

She recognizes the members and approaches them immediately in regards to what they did. They immediately confirm that events took place, and yes they danced in joy of the event it that they only killed once. As written in the Code of Conduct the skill difference is not approved, and they are disciplined accordingly.

Returning to her room, she sits and thinks about the events of he past couple months and reads over some recent letters she received from the other side of the lines. She silently starts to cry to herself, frustrated in the fact that she lost her love for Roth’rili and their child. She cannot remember what or why it changed. She can only remember the feelings, but why it is not there anymore is beyond her. What happened those days while she was missing that she can no longer recall? It was only her love for him that made her wish the end of all of this, so they could be together safely and raise a family. His arms made her forget about her struggles as a younger paladin and the hate she obtained while seasoning. Through him she began to care for many over those lines.

“Maybe Vilmah is right, as I will only bring pain and sorrow to Itakae.”

Sinking in the chair she thinks back further to at one point she even swore to never raise her sword against the Ghants even when they attacked as she grew fond of Khaell and his sweet temperament that was very rarely shown. Times have changed. That day in Elwynn Forest she didn’t even think twice before raising her sword. Starting to shake; she looks at her hands noticing the missing finger.

“Who am I becoming?” She stands starting to pace about the room. “What am I fighting for anymore? Peace? What good is it now? I have put my entire order in danger now, and I have failed to protect them. I get stronger every day but my heart remains the same. Empty, only filled with fictitious feelings to not be alone, but never love. Always out to please someone else.”

She silently removes her tabard and hangs it up for a moment to stare at it. She speaks to it almost as if it is a prayer to a higher power. “I feel that I have failed to train my members. I didn’t keep a close enough eye on everyone and some have faltered. Now I have put everyone in danger and I am sorry. Tomorrow we were to celebrate our anniversary with a large party. Tomorrow I will renew my vows to the Sacred Fire and it’s allies and change my focus.”

Loosing hope for a swift end to this entire she prepares for battle. She knows where not to seek for help as it seems the walls are closing in, but there is one part of her life she needs to find answers too. She needs to find Roth’rili.

Akirea
07-28-2007, 05:40 PM
The Blackguard Akirea Darksword dismounts from her Talbuk near her old city, Stratholme. Her sword, Loki, continues to speak with her in her mind about a pair of blood elves and an orc they had killed a week or so back. Finally she takes out a piece of paper and begins to write a letter.

((See the thread in PvP callouts. If you wish to discuss this with me in RT, I am on my friend's AIM: Vigilant Dusk))

Sulajin
07-29-2007, 04:44 PM
Sulajin was grinning. It was not the new grin, the grin that he wore for his children. To say that it was mirthless was missleading, to say that it was a happy expression was deception of the worst sort. It was a grin that put people who knew him on edge.

Itakae did not want her friend killed. Sulajin would not kill Itakae's friend. But, he mused as he toed the two foot long series of hoops and bends, Itakae's friend might wish he would. A sacred fire? There was no divine right to any flames. Fire ate. Fire burned. Fire grew. Fire killed. If you weren't prepared for it, the fire would consume you too.

Radurach
07-30-2007, 07:57 PM
Lord Radurach Ghant sat in his cold chambers listening to Tesserarius' plea.

News was spreading quickly around Azeroth. It seemed that Lady Persefani and the Sacred Fire were raiding multiple cities of the horde. War seemed eminent between her and Sanctuary: A Battle of the Bunnies, indeed.

Hmm... Radurach mused, as he dismissed the foolish orc, It seems all of Persefani's "peace" was in that finger...

Shadowthorn
08-01-2007, 01:37 PM
Lines of frustrated worry crease the night elf's forehead as the rogue read the answer to Persefani's declaration. Bolts of anger, worry, and consternation crack through his mind as he realized just what is about to happen between Sacred Fire and Sanctuary. "Dammit. You just had to make a declaration before you even had a chance to clean house," he murmured under his breath as he finished reading Vilmah's answer. As he crumpled the copy in his hand, he decided to take a trip into Kalimdor to get a feel of the atmosphere there. As he spun about to make his preparations, however, a knock resounded on his door drawing his attention to this new interruption. "Come in," he stated and a street urchin peeked her head around the door to hold out a folded note to him. "Thanks, little sister," Shadowthorn replied as he tossed a silver to the messenger. While he tore open the note, the girl caught the silver with a snap of her hand, bit it, and ran off without even saying a word. The door slammed shut as he looked at words written in red, a hodge-podge of lines and squiggles that became familiar to him as he attempted to translate.

After a few minutes of squinting, he realized that he was looking at was a wanted poster written in Orc. Slowly translating the words into Darnassian, Shadowthorn saw the names and descriptions of two people who were wanted for ruinous crimes against citizens of the Horde, and that they were members of the Sacred Fire. With the events of the recent past coming to light in memory, along with the wanted poster, he realized that there's going to be a general outcry for the scalp of every Sacred Fire member found. "Ah, bloody hell." Shadowthorn cursed as he tossed the crushed message next to Vilmah's answer. Gathering up his gear, he stormed out the door to go find out what was going on over in Kalimdor...

Though not attuned to the spirits, Amadare could tell something was not right in Kalimdor... The winds had changed and the scent of incence carried over the planes. She also knoticed a lack of young Tauren running here and there, they seemed to be staying in their home lands... "What is going on?" She wondered as her feline couriousity got the best of her.

Nymare
08-01-2007, 03:01 PM
Nymare could feel it prickling beneath her skin, tugging at her stomach, setting the blood on fire - it was the feel of the fight, the way it builds and tightens in those moments before the charge... only she was casually walking through Orgrimmar. Alone. There was no band of Ghants stretching out to either side of her, no sign of Netheryn raising his axe over his head in that one beautiful moment before the gates were open and the torrent of battle was unleashed.

No, the city itself seemed to cry out for war. It's fires burned with injustice that yerned to be set right.

All this over one little attack on Stormwind nearly a full moon ago?

The Rangeress highly doubted that.

The whisper around the campfires spoke of war between the Sacred Fire and Sanctuary, something that seemed impossible to consider less than a week ago, but looking around Orgrimmar now...

I wonder who was paid to start that rumor, stoke the fires...? Sanctuary would never... Fels! the whole idea of either guild plunging head first into the very act they are trying to prevent is simply ridiculous. No... other forces are at play, pushing them together. That, or one side has lost it's damned mind.

There was the faint sound of fluttering behind her and to the right, high in the air and caught on the breeze. She remained still, waiting. Closer, louder, there was a snap to it as the wind forced it's path ever more near. A hand shot out and deftly ripped the parchment from the air. In the absence of it's helpless flutter, she could faintly hear drums pounding in the distance.

Ah, but that is the deciding factor in war, the one thing that makes it far more tangible than peace ever can be - as long as someone wants war, war will exist. Vilmah will be hard-pressed to put off responding to the advances, though she should come to realize protection is not an act of war. Defense, reclamation of territory... it is all necessary to ensure, at the very least, the retention of balance. In any case, she could really use some friends who do not have to worry about hiding behind an illusion.

I should alert the Heirs. As if they are not already aware...

The amber glow of firelight danced maliciously across the message of the captured parchment.

"So then, let us speak plain: Violence shall be met with violence."

Lightly, Nymare set the warning against the fireheap. Hungry flames ate inward, blackening and curling it's victim into something unrecognizable, and in the flames it fed, she could see something beautiful dancing within - the promise of retribution.

Attack us once, shame on you. Attack us again, shame on us.

Scarletscorpid
08-01-2007, 03:35 PM
The light of the setting sun cast its long shadows across the room. In the shadows the Scorpid sat, hands folded under its chin examining the chart on the wall. Any observer would easily recognize the outlines of the continents of the Eastern Kingdoms and the land of Kalimdor. In an inset below the dividing sea was a smaller relief map of Outland.

Colored pins had been placed in a seemingly random manner across the map. Closer examination however would reveal the pins had indeed not been random, rather placed in rather precise locations.

" Sacred Fire's flames burn with purpose, there is no doubt. The response will be expected. Indeed should be expected. But in what form? "

The Scorpid rose from its chair and approached the map, running its gauntleted hand across the features, almost in a caress.

" There is more to this than vendetta. More than a calling out to war. Something else stirs at the heart of this. "

The chewed on its lower lip in thought. There were possibilities it was aware of, each as plausible as the other. Indeed it could well be a combination of them.

" The order. The Seekers. The House. The Guard. The man. The woman. The other man. The other woman. The troll...
... The Truth. "

The Scorpid lingered for a time at the map, the turned away to stride from the room, emerging into the evening sun washing over the balcony of the high castle chamber.
