I have a daughter now
And it is both for her and her mother that I worry
I've seen too many times
A marridal bed left to only one
But I plan to be home
When my little girl
Is grown

I want to raise her
As best a father can
And teach her the proud way
But not war

It is for my family I fight
Since it is their love
That might belittle any fortune of gold
I've not yet been given
And in whose arms
I can find true sanctuary

Maybe one day my prayers might be answered
For they are so simple
I only wish to see my daughter
For the first time
Maybe to give my wife one kiss
But I would do anything
To leave this place
And go home again
