Two Things:

1. I have the data for the journals from the old site, but I haven't figured out an easy way to mass export them into the new site. However, if people want me to retrieve their stories, I'm more than happy to do it. Just put a request in here and I should be able to do it within a day or two.

and

2. Currently the plan is to let you post your journals in this base forum. Once a month or so I'll go through and anything older than 2 weeks will be moved into a subforum. The subforums will be an alphabetical listing of each user's journal pages, ie. Mortica's Journal, Skafloc's Journal, etc etc.

This *should* bridge the gap between being able to easily see new posts and being able to find all of a writer's journal entries easily.

I was hoping I'd be able to just create the subforums and let you guys post into them directly and whoever's journal was updated last would show up at the top of the forum but I just don't see a way to do it.

Anyway, I'm up for suggestions for a better way to do this, but hopefully this will work :)

I assume you've looked at different journal mods for vBulletin. Are there reasons you prefer not to use any of those?

The free one I found on vbulletin.org hadn't been updated for a few vb versions and had a lot of "can anyone get this to work past version 3.blah.blah" feedbacks.

The vblogetin version costs a little bit more than I want to shell out right now for a feature that I'm unsure how many people would utilize it. And this seemed a cheap alternative that stays in the forums.

I'm up for suggestions if you know of something that would work well :)

ok, all of the journals that won the weekly contest are now posted.

If you wrote a journal on the previous TNG site and would like to see it again, there are now two methods.

1) Ask! I have them. But there are like 500 of them and it takes about 5 mins for me to retrieve them and reformat and post. So doing it for one or two people is no problem at all. I just don't want to take the time to do ALL of them if some of the people don't even come to this site anymore.

2) Grab them yourself. I've now posted the database dumpfile at http://wow-tng.org/just_journal_stripped.txt . Each line is a new post, so it'll help if you have a text editor like Edit Plus or whatever that does NOT wordwrap. I sorted the journals by author, so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult to find your post, copy the text and post it up the way you like. It should be noted that I didn't post any journals that were marked "private" (not public). So if you are missing one of those, see step 1, because I still have the full database dump.

The journals are still in the same forum. The journals referred to here (check the dates ;) ) were from 6 months ago when we transitioned from a php-Nuke site to a vBulletin site.
