The icon that shows if a thread has a new post look a LOT like the icon that shows up if there are NO new posts. It's real hard to tell if a thread has new posts as a result. Any chance of getting a more distinguishable icon?

I've found the easy way to tell is the little mini down arrow icon which will take you to the first new post of a thread. If that's there, there's new posts. If not, there isn't. ;)
At least until there are more...different icons.

I offered http://www.infectionguild.com/uploads/thread_new.gif and http://www.infectionguild.com/uploads/thread_hot_new.gif as alternatives in the first thread on the formatting and the like. Just a quick photoshop job. /shrug

Definitely going to agree.
I don't think this forum works exactly the same way. Like Darkblade said, if there are new posts, there's an image completely separate to the thread icon, next to the thread title. If there are no new posts, that image simply isn't there. That's what you should be looking for, not the icons on the side.

http://wow-tng.org/images/styles/blacksmart/buttons/firstnew.gif is the icon I was referring to, as well.

The images on the far left change. One's a closed envelope, the other is an opened one. It's really hard to distinguish from closed to open though.
