View Full Version : List of icons and meanings?

Sooo hard to find new posts with the cacophony of new icons. Different colors, different poses, then they change depending on what forum level you're looking at...
Something that looks like a new post icon only to have new posts in there, and new posts being missed because the forums shows what appears to be a non-new post icon.

I'm hoping it's just because vB uses different style formats, and once there's more time we'll have something similar to what we're used too. This is one of the big reasons I don't like vB that much.
Allow me!
From the forum index:
http://www.wow-tng.org/images/statusicon/forum_new.gif means new posts in this forum
http://www.wow-tng.org/images/statusicon/forum_old.gif means no new posts
In a forum:
http://www.wow-tng.org/images/buttons/firstnew.gif Means new posts in a thread
Now the one thing about vBulletin that annoys me is that when you read all the new posts, the "new posts in forum" icon doesn't change until you have refreshed that forum's page.
Hopefully that helps? Is there any more that confuses you?

Mortica, I demand this place look less like a fucking Rubbermaid commercial - and more cartoon/WoW oriented like the old board.
Work? I don't care about work. AbricOOC demands visually appealing entertainment.
Dance, Mortica! Dance!

Yay, new style, <3!
And thus, my icon guide is already obsolete

Note: The current "New Posts" icon is really hard to distinguish.
Maybe modify it, like this?

And, should you like my thing, I offer http://www.infectionguild.com/uploads/thread_hot_new.gif for hot threads with new replies as well.^^
If not, that's cool too. Haha.

I agree....I'll fine tune it a bit later. I'm just glad I can see again ^^

I was in the middle of reading a post, moved to the next page, and the colors changed!

Though there are some parts which are a bit...miscolored now, but I'm sure you'll get to them in time. ;)

Nifty.
Et, pourquoi devez-vous parler espagnol?

I was channeling the spirit of Speedy Gonzalez in hopes that it all won't take too long.

Did you just ask her in French if she speaks Spanish?
p.s. light gray background for post entry = bad

"And, why must you speak Spanish?"
"Parlez-vous espagnol?" is "Do you speak Spanish?"
'Course, that's in more of an informal form, using inversion.

"And, why must you speak Spanish?"
And oddly enough I answered it without realizing you were asking in french o.O

do you mean the border around the reply/post box? I'm finding it annoying too. I'll change it when I can.
My main thing was to make the board not white with blue writing because I was having a hard time seeing what posts have updated.

No, I mean the entire post box. Like right now, typing this, I can't see my cursor (barely), because it's light grayness almost blends in with the gray background of the post-entry box. Same with the arrow (when in "I" symbol text inputting form).
The border itself isn't bad, though bright, but the lighter gray is.

must be a firefox thing :(
I will check it when I get home. No firefox here and no way to install it :(
Although I could probably change the color of the input as a temporary stop gap for ya

I may have my colors tweaked slightly differently at home and at work. My "I" cursor is blacker here at home, so I can see it easier. However, the blinky text cursor is still gray, and the light gray background (which is there in IE as well) almost matches it.
Mind you, I can see the text fine, but if I were to randomly click someplace in the text field with my eyes closed, I'd have a very hard time finding the cursor just by looking.
