the topic up there *points* says that high/blood elves reach sexual maturity at 60. this means they're entering or done with adolescence at that age. but i see people making/planning elves who are in their 20s, which makes for confusion! i wonder, is this a guide everyone is following? is it not official blizzard lore? if it is not official blizzard lore, what is? i strive for correctness!

On ambiguities, I put something like 20 (human equivalent). I'm guessing that the people who said their Elves are in their twenties are not using that guide, and they should be assumed HE's.

Personally, I think the listed age for "adulthood" is BS. The White Wolf books have gotten things wrong before.

Sexual maturity in humans is around 14, with some variances. I think. Girls are obviously a little younger, guys a little older, and whatnot. As for a difference in aging in Belf and Helfs... well Belfs only declared their existance about five, six years ago. Hard to say how they'd do it, other than the exact same as the Helfs.

I can only assume that when you live for over a few centuries with ease, recognized adulthood comes a little later, like with other fantasy games. As for me? I put my age down as "Adult", because I didn't even want to mess with it :P

Ho! An excellent point, Keraph! Physical maturity vs social maturity.

so, sexual maturity may be the same as a human but socially they would not be accepted as an adult? it would get rid of the problem of an extended childhood and puberty to deal with! i only want to be accurate though... i suppose if anything i can say, to someone who scoffs at what age i choose, that it is a peculiarity of my elf's family-line. i am sure that with all the creative rp going around that such an answer will be accepted!

Why does it always have to be about Sexual maturity?

Damn horny gamers and their over-driven libidos.

Just in case I was wrong with the lore, I changed my age in the bio to "Young Adult".

Ohhh, I like the Child, Young Adult, Adult, Elder etc. solution to the age problem. I think I'll change Thaena's bio. What a great idea!

I'm lucky, my crysa is only HALF sin'dorei, so she ages simmilar to a human. She reached maturity around 12-13.. physicaly.. but she hasn't aged much past 16, though she's closer to 30.

it is not a libido, sir, it is not wanting to play a character who is still a child! i already have one of those. and also wanting to know what they would have lived through, and what psychological developmental stage they would have been during the major wars. sadly these answers are not concrete. i will have to make things up! :o

Plus it's really annoying when you say your level 60 warrior is eight years old and tanking Ragnaros.

Falls back into the "Basic laws of reality" rule.

If I wanted to play a kid, I would play a gnome, and say I'm not a gnome, I'm just a chunky human child ;p

The " Young adult, Adult, Middle aged, etc.. " solution is a good failsafe. It bypasses any actual age confusion.

On the matter of Blood Elves though, they are the exact same race as the High Elves, so the same lifespan applies. The only difference between Blood Elves and High Elves is cultural; One branch has chosen to accept the loss of the Sunwell and is struggling with coping with their mana addiction withdrawl (HE's), while the other refused to accept the loss and through Kael discovered alternative sources of mana to feed their addiction, mana extracted from life forms (BE's).

I for one never liked seasons for describing my characters age. Since you level slower as you get higher level, does that mean the season go by slower....?

I prefer to just kinda keep the same age, and the 1-60 think I call Rank. As an example, Marlexis is a Rank 60 Master Warlock

I like your style. Mostly because it's identical to mine. ;)

I have not seen anyone use seasons to describe a character's age, it was always just a synonym for "level".

That's the same thing, though. "Season" is a term for a period of time within a year, and can sometimes be used as a synonym for an entire year. If you use "seasons" to describe your level, then you at minimum age 15 years from level 1 to 60. And the globe of Azeroth spins much slower in those later years...

Putting a numerical value on your level in some sort of in-chracter term sounds pretty ridiculous. It's no different than being over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAND

It seemed to me that people who use "seasons" use it because it can be an undefined span of time. One definition I find for season is: A period of the year marked by special events or activities in some field; "he celebrated his 10th season with the ballet company"; "she always looked forward to the avocado season"

But I use "level" because I do not see a reason not to. "Grade" is another option I have considered.
