If I'm not mistaken orc religion is supposed to be moving towards a more shamanistic style. Before they were bound to the demons, thats what their relgion was, and their interactions with the Tauren kindof reawakened that whole...wanting religion...thing.

Could I get some info on the shamanistic ways then? Honestly, I'm pretty ignorant on the whole shamanistic culture.

Well it varies from race to race. Trolls are of course dark mystics. Tauren are equally obviously more along the lines of the Native Americans. Probably they deal less with "Elements" and more with totemic animal representations.
Basically the thing with Shamans is they are the bridge to the spirit world.
Priests truck with gods.
Warlocks deal with Demons.
Mages wield the arcane.
And druids are still a bastard "I'm almost something else, but not quite anything" sort of people.

That's really a fun way to use your characters. Don't deal exclusively in ingame abilities. Look at what they represent and what your character is.
Burning Soul merit: meet T'Ihn.
Portals: Destabilization of space, leads to a collapse in reality and Nether voyaging.
"You can't do that" "Sure I can. I'm magic."
Yer Rogue doesn't allways have to be stealthing in and out to fight people. In a tense situation, or even a not so tense situation. Just side with the person, and quietly stick a knife in their side.
Shamans deal in spirit matters. Make sure not to limit yourself to elements.

Shamanastic relgion is quite interesting, but it varries quite a bit from culture to culture. So its a bit difficult to have a definate way of describing them, other than the fact that they all deal with the spirits of nature. Be it ancestral, elemental, or some diety. The thing with orc shamanism is that its not really developed that much, because its kindof still in a fledgling state. Its not like the tauren or troll cultures, that have had it for quite some time. Theres a lot you could play with as far as RP goes because of that.

Orcish shamanism differs from Taurahe in that the Taurens worship their ancestors, while the Orcs focus more on the elements, as evidence with the Throne of Elements in Nagrand (they were shamans long before we knew of any of the other races, it just kind of fell out with the interceding the Burning Legion did). Very powerful elemental spirits exist on Draenor, but mirror that of the elemental princes of Azeroth as they are much more helpful to the mortal races. They only returned to it recently due to that so many of them became warlocks that it was more of a threat to them due to the bloodthirst. There were always a group (specifically, the Frostwolves) who maintained their shamanistic nature and held on to it throughout all of their troubles.
The most prominent part of Orcish shamanism is the Far Seer. They hold amazing power in wielding elements, and are able to divine the future, which made them the leaders among the Horde. The strongest one would be Thrall, but he was a student under Drek'Thar, who could be said to be the most powerful shaman in existence.
Tauren don't believe their shamanistic powers come from the elements. Instead, they revere their ancestors and the Earthmother, and believe their powers come from them.
Trolls, eh, who knows. It could be the Loa, it could be the elements. There's never been something definitive of Troll shamanism.
Draenei shamanism is an offshoot of the orcish one, since they did just take it from them while living together.

Drek'Thar can Whirlwind and Cleave. Sounds like a pretty powerful Shaman to me.

I think that the expansion shaman talents will really do a lot to further the role playing cause of shamans as spirit wolves and elementals are at the roots of shamanistic society as far as powers go. Elemental energies are constantly at use and the wolves strengthen the fact that they commune with the spirit world.

Vilmah, you should pick up the new Warcraft book "Rise of the Horde", it explains their shamanistic culture very well, and take a look at ww.wowwiki.com and do a few searches, its always fun to check that place out.
