Apparent Solution for DCing in 25 mans

While perusing the WoW forums, I found a thread where a person had found the problem causing them to DC in 25 mans. Strange enough, it wasn't their addons, but the addons of their fellow raid members causing them to DC. The addons would be sending them so much junk information, that they'd disconnect.

They downloaded a separate addon that temporarily ignores all people with spammy addons, and then reverses it. Not an ideal fix--but a fix nonetheless.

Usually when I have DC issues in 25 mans, it's usually only when I know someone has rankwatch, and I get super spammed during trash pulls because surprise surprise, the move I'm using isn't from my main spec (Some mage stuff pops it up.).

DBM, Recount, Atlasloot? I have no problems. I don't have GS or Carbonite though.

yeah rankwatch usually leads to me putting people on ignore. I tell them once to make it quit messaging me, then I ignore them.

Atlasloot, Gearscore, Carbonite, Rankwatch, and a number of other addons shouldn't be run in 25s. It doesn't matter if YOU are having problems - the addons can cause problems for the other 24 members of your raid.

In recount you can type "/recount sync" and that will stop it from spamming others (but still get your information as there is some useful stuff in there - like the death watch that it does).

I don't know if I would use the /ignore addon since DBM may (I am not sure) rely on other's information and/or many people have /whisper macros built into abilities (like MD, TotT, Hysteria, Soulstone, etc.).

I can't believe people actually still run recount. Skada folks - light weight, easy to configure, much much much much less of a resource hog, and ACURATE - where recount is not.


As for DCing problems. Turn your addons off. All of them. Then one at a time turn them back on until you crash. Then disable the last one. do a little bit of testing with that particular mod if its something you don't think you can be without. disable other mods and leave that one running and see if the mods are conflicting.




If your running AVR - turn it off. The "creative break" was to cause players running it to lag and crash. The addon itself works and is up to date - You just can't play with it on ;p


As for people crashing other people with their spam --- they get a raid kick ;p


Though, rank watch spam is easily fixed - PUT UP THE NEWEST RANK OF SPELLS ;p

Just like I still find it funny how people expect Blizzard to stop account "hacking."

The only thing I use recount for is death information - heals/damage for the last 15 seconds or so before a death. When I tried Skada out (granted, when it was brand new back in Ulduar) they didn't record that information - has that changed?

This works.. however it'll still ping me for using AI on myself, instead of wasting a reagant to do DB. The same goes with anytime I find a reason to use a frostbolt, because I'm not spec'd to take it higher.

Oh no...this is for when someone complains about dying in 5 mans. I can say "you were standing in a void zone" and then spam /p with proof.

My problem with rankwatch (it's not popular enough for me to know if it does it for this skill) is life tapping with rank 1 just for the glyph buff. I do this before a lot of boss fights...

AVR no longer works, so you can dump it anyway.

I think the new thing to lag people up in any raid will honeslty be realID. Momentary 1 or 2 second pings as people go off and on.
