Horadrim as a guild, is evolving. As the leader, I notice each and every change, from DPS numbers, to gear, to the mood of the raid itself. And whether the changes be big, or whether they be small, they change the way Horadrim ‘works’.
When I first took over the guild, it was difficult. At that point, I was used to pushing for the high end content with either PuG’s, or a group of friends, who was interested in going pretty far also. We were all geared, and we all knew most of the content . When Horadrim re-started, it was like starting over as a new eighty with most of them as well. [Them, being the new members] Most of the people who saw my guild advert in trade and either spoke to me, or applied were newer to eighty, or had just hit eighty. Some didn’t know their class too well—I noticed right off the back that I was going to have problems. And the road only got harder. We hit the obvious roadblocks right away;
i. More than 2 tanks in-slot
ii. Not enough healers in-slot
iii. Everyone needed the gear
iv. DPS issues
v. Some wouldn’t off-spec
vi. Loot issues
vii. Guild bank issues
viii. Communication issues
[And I admit one of the loot issues was one of my faults, and later apologized to the person for it. All good times. . sigh.]
And the list went on. I don’t understand honestly sometimes, how some of the other guild leaders did it. I mean.. Horadrim is fifteen people right now. I have to start looking for more healers. Maybe another DPS or two. But even fifteen people can sometimes be a lot to manage a lot of the time—at least, in my opinion.
But since all those issues have occurred, somehow, we’ve worked through them. Not all of them, but.. most of them. Which is the beneficial thing out of all of this. 2 of my tanks went and found themselves a fun off-spec; one had even told me he/she wouldn’t DPS, which is the funnier thing! Now he/she does! And enjoys it. Of course, we still need healers. One of our healers is a good friend of a couple members, so they’re guaranteed a slot [at least, until we get more than enough healers], and frankly, the progress that the one person has made as well, is astounding. I was a little hesitant at first to bring them along but.. wow.
If you looked up Horadrim now on the armoury, you’d see that most of the members are now wearing their full T9+, with some of the 226 pieces still on. Some are even sporting their T10, and other misc drops in ICC. When I got all of our regulars in Horadrim, I looked at the armoury, and my first words I think were, “Oh gods.”. Almost everyone was in 80 blues.
Needless to say, I’m still doing the ‘…wow’ bit. At what the guys have done to get ready. The DPS issues were partly based off gear. But I’ll give a clouded example.
About.. 3(?) weeks ago, we were in ICC. First wing. Breezed through Marrowgar, and Deathwhisper. Everyone’s mood was up—you know. It’s their first time in ICC, and they’ve just through the first couple bosses on their own. Wouldn’t you be in a good mood too? We got to the Gunship and started running into problems. After a couple hiccups and wipes, we got it done, but after that, the mood had kind of deflated a bit—not enough to completely destroy the raid, but you know the feeling. So we get to Saurfang, and everything falls to bits. To this day, the only logical conclusion I can think of, is DPS numbers, combined with the deflation of mood. I took a look a the DPS numbers after the raid, and after talking it through with the other officers and decided that the numbers were indeed low [2K-3K ish]. Last week, in ICC, we blew through Saurfang, and got Rotface down to 4 mil a lot of the time. Like, first time hitting Rotface. The week before we’d decided to try Princes after we downed Saurfang, and lasted about a minute. I took a look at the numbers afterwards, DPS wise. Everyone above 4k.
I’m not going to say I wasn’t proud.
And then you got the few people, who could potentially offspec into a healer, or another DPS, and said they wouldn’t. Oh well. I was shocked, when I had a tank bow out to DPS. Shocked even more when he/she preferred it to tanking.
Loot issues and guild bank issues almost tie together. I admit that for awhile, sheer nervousness kept me from giving all members access. If they wanted anything from the bank, they had to ask me for exactly what they wanted. After about a month, I relented and gave everyone a two stack withdraw. Since then.. there’s been small things here and there, but I rule with the iron fist. If I don’t think it’s right, I ask another officer to take a look, or at least give things a check myself. Keeps me happy.
The last, and one of the problems we’re still working on is communication- I’d have to say. We’re still learning how to work with another. Communication, however awesome it’s gotten, is still being debated every time we raid. I mean, do we raid laid back, professionally, etc. It all ties into the mood. However, the last couple times, the other officers of Horadrim have made me regret promoting them—the JERKS! [ JK! ]
But in essence, Horadrim is getting better. There are still moments where I ask myself what am I doing, or what do I want to do, and I honestly can’t answer the question. We’re evolving as a guild, and as raiders. The people I started with, they’ve come so far, and I’m happy because of it. I don’t know whether it’s because they’ve had that laid back feel and they’ve been told when they mess up, ‘its okay, don’t worry, we’ll go again next week’ [Except me. I get told ‘BAD MAGE!’] or whether they’ve just figured things out for themselves, but damn. Our team is getting better!

Recruiting
As of now, Horadrim is semi-reopen to tanks. A few of our tanks have gone either AFK, or dual-spec’d, so we’re willing to reopen the slots to tanks, as long as you have dual-spec, and are willing to gear that off-spec.
DPS wise, we’re still open to anything, and if you’re ranged, we have a lack of ranged right now. The only real active ranged are myself [Felynn], a boomkin, and an MMS hunter [Wyrdassil]. Most other slots are open to other classes- there are no warlocks, shadow priests, arcane mages, or elemental shamans in-slot! We could use you!
In Horadrim itself, we have one healer. A holy paladin. Our other healers are out of guild, and filling our slots for us, until we recruit healers! Resto druids, holy priests, etc! We need you!
