I totally ganked this from someone else, BUT this is a list of the top 40 DPSers on festergut + standard deviation (pre-rogue nerf).

Hence the lock buff, hence the rogue nerf. I think that it is pretty interesting to see how well melee is scaling and, correspondingly, how relatively poorly the casters are doing (although festergut does favor melee).
Nerf rogues!!

Festergut STRONGLY favors melee. And through a variety of nerfs, including the ones to poisons, Hunger for Blood, and the Berserking proc rate, they've brought rogue DPS down substantially since this graph was made (I know you aren't contesting this).

People in top raiding guilds were pulling over 10k comfortably prior to 3.3.
(Hint: Better gear will not make your DPS jump from 5k to 10k)

Festergut is a boss in new ICC content, or at least I think its the newest. Not sure if Blood Furnace(?) is out yet

Gear is my current barrier, nothing can be changed for the better in my spec or rotation, nor my gemming or enchanting (cept my offhand weapon which I refuse to reenchant because I want it GONE, and nothing ever drops /QQBITCHMOANRAAAAAAAAAAAAGEBLAAAAAADSTOOOOOOOORRRRR RMMMMM)

I actually am surprised the arcane mages are down that far, the guys I raid with, while having better gear, seem to do more than that, certainly more than me,
I did 8k on festergut, but I had to run out with 3 spores... so meh. As long as he drops, I am comfortable.

The numbers used to make that graph are now out of date (with the rogue nerf - and it was made not that long after Festergut released so people are much better geared these days), it was interesting to me to see where folks were and how blizzard responded (slight direct nerf to rogues [I don't think it was that brutal Akuje] and slight indirect nerf to melee [via the PPM changes]).
I am happy that they are actually trying to live up to their 'damage dealing classes should be at X and hybrids at X-5" where X is some theoretical awesome DPS number.
Granted I still think they should buff elemental shaman (who aren't being brought to progression raids since they only bring lesser buffs and lesser damage) and a few other specs (Arms warriors). All in all, I think they are doing a good job these days even if my favorite classes/specs aren't necessarily up on the list.

Rogues took a 13% nerf plus a PPM change, they are putting out substantially less.

Most recent stuff I read was like 8% to Assassination and like 3 or 4% to Combat. But the PPM change is hitting them harder. I could be mistaken though.

See, I fail to understand why blizard hasnt done something to bump warlock DPS sooner then now. I mean come on, ENHANCEMENT SHAMANS and FERAL DRUIDS are out DPSing a pure DPS class, all three specs of it. Of course I understand that Gusterfut (gassious bastard) is mele-favored, but still.
Cant wait to try out that warlock buff, whatever the fuck it is...

... I read this wrong, otherwise I was going to smack the shit out of you. thought it said "Elemental Shamans and Moonkin Druids", not.. enhancement and feral.
Melee always has outdps'd casters, especially on fights where they don't have to move and really can unload.
Its as it should be. Spells hurt, but getting a fucking axe to the face should hurt more. A lot.

If there are two in melee they have to move =p
Also, if I can stand and nuke I can out dps most melee, the sad thing is the moment a chicken has to move the dps goes down, and down hard.

Read: "Because I'm a pure DPS class, I should out DPS other classes soley on the basis that they have the options to tank and heal if they want to."
Afraid that's not how it works. Those Feral Druids earn every single point of DPS they get.

Umm, unless my understanding of the mechanics of festergut are wrong, wouldn't forcing all of the casters into melee range to get inoculated be really, REALLY dangerous because of vile gas?
If there aren't enough people at range, he'll cast it on the melee... and subsequently the tanks, which could lead to them being disorientated, never mind the additional damage on them.

best strat is have 6 ranged, everyone else in melee (for 25) and I think it is 3 ranged for 10 man.

Making melee move to ranged to inoculate is redundant. Put a ranged in melee and make THEM hall ass if necessary. And by ranged, I mean your movable healers - like holy priests or trees.
Moving melee = less dps = badness.
Moving someone who can move(dotlock/tree/hpriest) = goodness.

Wellll no, we make whoever is square stay in, unless X or skull are a tank, I was square 2x but one of the tanks had the buff so I had to run, the other time I was X and square was a tank healer, so I move again, legit. It isn't awesome, but meh, the boss drops, so I am comfortable with it.
And btw, Lisbet, when you talk about getting axes to the face the pleats in my pants create an optical illusion that makes it seem as though I am aroused.

Once again, depends on the fight.
I can clear 11k on twins in toc with Belicosa because I know how to exploit the buffs.
Also, skill and situational awareness > gear. If you are not paying attention or following instructions, gear will not help.
