View Full Version : Tanking question about the patch.
Has any other tanks noticed that mobs keep trying to run behind you while you're doing instances / raids since the patch?

Tanking bug in 3.3
There is a known bug that was introduced in 3.3 that can cause tanked mobs to move around in unpredictable and frustrating ways. A fix is incoming.

That was a bug? I was actually thinking the mobs suddenly got smart. I'm like OH SHI- *quick reposition*.
Kept me mobile, that's for sure. I understand, though, that for some battles (I.E. 25H Anub adds), such unpredictability = insta wipe.

And here I thought I was just rusty.

I had read about this bug on patch day, but I still enjoyed giving Leoren shit for "intentionally kiting the mobs" when he tanked Halls of Reflection.

Yup, this is the new mob dancing, and to be honest, I like it. Smart mobs is great. And honestly save for heroic Anub, I would like to see it stay. It turns tanking for me into something more then run through group, swiping, turn around and swipe 30 more times until dead.

It was frustrating until I got used to it. I thought there was something wrong.

I've gotten mostly used to it, but it's still annoying in situations where I have multiple mobs that need to face away from the group. (See aboms in HoR) There always tends to be at least one that won't cooperate.
Its pretty fail when I'm trying to get them up nice and neat so I can shockwave and such and two or three decide to run behind me, or break off all together for absolutely no reason to kill someone.

I've just for a long time now charged, thunderclapped, then backpedaled a step or two before I hit shockwave, so I know they're all in front of me.
Doing that I think minimizes this "bug". Though it usually means the warlock is going to pull aggro. But that's what taunt is for!

If the warlock doesn't pull aggro and die, it's not a real raid.

If the warlock mage doesn't pull aggro and die, it's not a real raid.
Fixed.
Also... what's a warlock? I've heard about them in myth and legend, but never seen one in any of my raids.

Warlock aggro dump = death true story.
