Or called AA meetings cause we're all addicted to arenas/pvp/bgs/what have you.

Basically, I want to hear about peoples Arena(or other pvp!) stories from comical ones to badassery. You name it.

Rules: "Rules for usage of names and stories involving other players, particularly of those from the opposite faction, are on a bit of a tighter leash for this thread. When using names, be sure to be tactful and respectful. Also, try to secure permission from any opposing parties ahead of time, and failing that check with Fhenrir before making the post to ensure it won't go over poorly. Or just edit names out."

Comments are encouraged. I want stories though! So lets get this started.

I'll go first:

Last night while trying to push our 5's rating from 1900 to 2200 (which we came close to till all the other 5's teams logged off, 2178) we fought alot of teams that were pretty easy to take on. Don't get me wrong, there were some pretty tough teams but if anyone has done 5's, you know that you will face people across the entire MMR cause there's barely any teams at all. I think our record last night was 35+games won and 2 lost.

Anyway! We've been facing this team almost all night. Probably farmed 12 wins from them or something ridiculous. So, the last time we fought them, I as a healer, decide to not heal at all. My only rule for myself was that I could use defensive cool downs to mitigate or absorb damage but not allowed to return health at all UNLESS it was in a chance of someone dying.

Lucky for me, Mahkiel is a badass healer and with my defensive cooldowns, didn't need my help at all. So, at the end of the game, I had about 7k damage done and 0 healing done. I basically looked like I was a really bad ret paladin for the game.

Sadly, this was the last time we saw this team and the last team we saw that night. We sat in the queue for a good half an hour before giving up and going to sleep. It could have been that we made their rating drop 50 some odd points, it could have been that they saw I didnt need to heal at all and I hurt their pride. Who knows but it was by far the most hilarious 5's game (for me at least) that night.

And trust me... there were quite a bit of hilarious moments.

My first and most fun 2's team was with Cavanaugh when he was a mage. I was a shockadin, and he was a PoM pyro mage. I don't really remember any specific stories, but you can imagine the hilarity that could come from such a team. Our strategy basically boiled down to 'mount up, run crusader aura, charge, and explode whatever we see first.' If that didn't work, the game was usually a loss, but when we won it was awesome.

I also ran with a three shockadin team for a little while that was basically the same idea. When you blow someone up in the first three seconds of the match, it's always going to be funny.

I never got the chance to be a shockadin. : (

The best moment in 5's for me was when we faced a team where Yatokth yelled "Focus on *Indiscriminate yelling*" every time we changed targets.

And somehow, Thelsuo and I knew what to kill.

Hrmm.

This is one of those threads that would be fun to have around to add to during a season, so I'll likely return to it when I've something notable still fresh in my head.

I did play a few 2v2 skirmishes though with this healy pally. Didn't pillar hump and stood out in the center of the map in front of the enemy much to my yelling horror.

Good times.

I still remember a 2s match from BC arena when I would do it with Gandrin, my brother's frost mage (he carried me all the way). We did one match against another DPS/Healer combo where the healer was a Holy Paladin. Somehow, Gandrin and the other DPS managed to DKO, and so it was up to myself and this other paladin to determine the outcome of the match. No issue right?

Wait... where is my mana bar?

So we are both OOM, neither one of us wanting to let the other sit down and drink so we were bashing each other with maces. We raced cooldowns; she her divine protection bubble thing and me my shadowfiend. So every five minutes there would be a burst of activity where I would fear, sick the fiend and try to do as much damage as possible without letting her shield. The match ran 20 minutes (Gandrin and the other DPS died in the first five) with our team eventually coming out the victor due to a well timed mana burn that robbed the other paladin of the mana to bubble. And of course, Gandrin was standing behind me laughing his head off the entire time =D

me on my druid with a warrior in late-ish s4.

versus frost mage/priest.

nagrand.

2am.

after numerous resets and almost-kills from both sides (featuring such wonderful plans such as "ok evocate is down trinket next full sheep so we can make him blow mana gem and then NEXT trinket we can run him oom and then we somehow have to stop him from conjuring a new mana gem and then maybe we can kill him before next evocate!") the mages gear broke after hitting him for 3 hours, and we won at around 5 am.

EPIC.

My story:

Running Pally/Warrior S5, was still Arms (FUCK FURY) so I was all gimped like shit. I take down this Warrior's druid at the exact some moment he takes down my pally, we're both at 80%, and it's WARRIOR DUEL AGOGO.

We execute at exactly the same time. It's a draw.

This one comes from Burning crusade, I was doing arenas with Grimal, and we got into one arena in the Lordaeron map...we were facing a paladin and a druid...We were trying to lure theese guys into our room, and they wouldn't move. they were sitting ontop of the tomb, just waiting, and we were sitting in our room waiting for them to come.....after 54 minutes of idle chatter, looking through atlas loot and spamming bosstalk, the allys finally came over and we beat em down XP

The most patient allys we've ever seen.

There was this one time when I was very noobish and learning how to PVP heal when I did skirmishes with this ret pally. I was standing in LoS like I figured I should and all of a sudden over vent I hear, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! WHY ARE YOU STANDING OUT THERE LIKE AN IDIOT???"

It was a defining moment in my career as a holy paladin. I hold that moment near and dear to my heart, always remembering how my mentor showed me the gentle ways of arenas.

Me and Kaliera were playing in Nagrand, as Warrior/Druid against Rogue/Druid. I think this was in S3. We were at about 2100 at the time if I recall.

Anyway, before we started the match, he warned me he might have to take a short break to answer the door for his pizza after the next match. We start the match, and it ends up being a veryyyy long match (yay druids).

Knock comes on the door and he yells "Shit, I have to go AFK! Turtle!" and he jumps behind a pillar. He's AFK for about 30 seconds in caster form behind a pillar, and I'm sword/boarding for my dear life.

I'm bouncing around like a dipshit spamming Piercing Howl for whenever either of them figures out my partner is AFK and go to kill him. Neither of them ever do.

He comes back in time to NS heal me and we win the match. Best 16 points we ever got.

I was doing 3s with Jilli and Orck at the end of a long night of wiping on Vashj. When I PvE, I have my blind replaced with a macro or a healthstone or haste pot, or whatever it is I need for a particular fight (since blind isn't terribly useful in PvE - particularly raiding).

This particular match took place back when two teams of the same faction could understand each other in arenas.

After getting CCed, I was mashing my blind key on a target near me in preparation for the CC to wear off, but instead, I just began yelling madly at my opponent:

/y <------- TAINTED CORE TO: %t ! ! !
/s <------- TAINTED CORE TO: %t ! ! !

After realizing what was going on (and screaming on vent: "WHY THE @#$(* ISN'T BLIND WORKING?!?!?") I had time to type out in say, "TIME OUT! TIME OUT! LET ME FIX MY KEYS."

...needless to say, they were not very sporting about letting me do so.

One night I'm running like hell from a Paladin, both of us sitting at about 22% health or so (Was definitely ground beef if he caught me, I remember that much) and praying desperately that my cooldowns would roll over soon. Somewhere along the lines we drop combat and I see the Paladin casting something that made my jaw drop. Rather than mount up and catch me before I have a chance to heal and get my shit back, or any other intelligent decision, he decides that the best course of action is to start resing his partner.

My cooldowns thankfully rolled over right then. Threw a heal on myself and threw everything I could at him.

we played a 41 Minute match as Frost mage/ret vs. -#1- (Warrior) And -#2- (Druid).

Alot of pillar humpage. Alot of Angry yelling. and Definitely alot of resets. Alot.

20 minutes in to the game we almost killed -#2-, FAIL. 36 Minutes almost killed -#1-, FAIL. And 41 Minutes in to the game we finally tricked -#1- in to tunnel visioning in to a corner and ccing -#2- and KILLED -#1- YAY!!!

Man we were expecting some big points since they were rank 2 in the 2v2 bracket at that time ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDD we got 3 points.

Back when Arenas were brand new and most of the BC raid content wasn't out yet I still played my rogue, had a hunter rogue priest 3's team with some guildies, mostly just played around casually but did alright considering the lackluster comp/specs. Three stories for ya.

Something hilarious about watching your holy priest run around with two rogues chasing after her for two minutes yelling, "I'm Rick James bitch" in vent cause they just couldn't kill her... Mind Numbing and Deadly poison... really?

Another great match was against a triple dps team, somehow they managed to blow away our priest and hunter in the time that I killed their hunter, leaving it down to me as a rogue against an arms warrior and a mage.

Well I was in stealth and I ran by the warrior when the stealth detection buff popped up, he switched from zerker to battle to charge me but wasn't quick enough and I sapped him, then proceeded to chase down the mage and tear him to pieces (I rolled mutilate in BC) killed him and vanished right as the sap broke and the warrior charged. Ran off to the corner and bandaged followed by an epic 1v1 battle with an arms warrior. Managed to kill him with about 5% hp left.

There was screaming and yelling on vent, then to help with the fact that my hands were shaking from adrenaline I went and took a cold shower.

We had a 1700 rating in season one as Mut, Marks and Holy. Was kinda funny, sadly though we stopped doing arenas right before they buffed hunters and priests in late season 2... or was it 3? I can't remember.

A sadder side of the coin. Dun remember exactly what the team comp we were up against was, but everyone was dead aside from my hunter and an enemy warrior. My buddy traps the warrior and backs off, starts drinking cause he's oom (and I don't remember if viper was in the game or not at that point, maybe just sucked) Anyway he's at about 2k/11k hp, starts to bandage right as the fucking tornado in Nagrand Arena (yeah, fuck you blizzard, arenas = skill) spawns right on his fucking head. It hits him for 1k and throws him straight at the arms warrior who is just coming out of the trap at about 30% hp. There was much cursing and we were done with arenas for the week after that.

Well, this is a story from the early stages of Burning Crusade with an ex-guildmate in another server. We were both rogues, him being combat and I being mutilate. So one day, he decided he wants to get another rogue in his 2v2, and I was like, well, why not?

So the two of us formed a team and went into the arena. Our first opponent was a warrior + druid combo. First meeting was a disastrous failure, but this friend of mine, being an apparent tactical genius, was quick to draft up a plan against this match up (namely, get behind the warrior, kill the warrior, then throw everything at the druid).

So, we then go into the arena again and lo and behold, same warrior and druid. We followed the plan and we trumped this team. Then we go into the third arena and....well, same warrior and druid and we killed them yet again. Fourth time, warrior stuck close to druid, we circle them like sharks, and once we could see their backs clearly, warrior dies again. Druid turned tail and fled to the pillar when we almost killed 'em (he killed the combat rogue), but I was quick to follow and I butchered the druid while he tried to heal up, scoring another win.

Fifth time, and this team just surrendered by doing nothing and let us kill them. And we never saw them again for the rest of the day.

My best moment was last season during a 2's session. My feral druid partner were having an off day, fighting lots of priest/rogue combo's which gave us fits. I Q'd us and the next thing I know I hear a ding in vent to indicate he dropped, along with my stomach, as I had just accepted the next rated battle and was waiting to go.

And what do you know when the gates to the UC arena opened what was I looking at? You guessed it: A priest and someone else stealthed. The lack of druid buffs confirmed a rogue. I made my way to the center by the crypt coffin thing and laid a portal, then ran to the side and waited for the inevitable. Out pops the rogue on me, the priest jumping up top to start smite spamming me. I feared the two off me and started gunning for the rogue, figuring I would have some fun and see how far I could take her down, before I got stomped. I noticed her drop to 7k while the fear was still in effect and felt my heart skip a little. The rogue popped CoS and I shot off a chaos bolt and followed with a shadowburn. The chaos bolt hit, of course, and I felt like the luckiest bastard in the world when shadowburn hit too, taking away the rogues last 1.5k. From there it was just a long battle with the priest kiting me around the center and me trying to fear her off so I could go drink. About seven minutes in I ended up saving the day and bragging all about it to my partner.

Blizz only gave me 6 points for that win, I totally should have got 20.

30 minute arena match with a resto druid (i'm feral specced druid by the way) He couldn't do enough damage to kill me. I couldn't do enough damage to kill him. The fight had finally ended when he got impatient and starting spamming wrath and moonfire till his mana was nearly gone. He blew his innervate before hand for the third time that match so he was going to oom eventually.

Sadly thought he gave up, we both bid each other good day and he was gone *rubs a tear from his eye* My win score was under ten as well...*sigh*

My arena story was spawned off my own stupity.

I ran dk/retadin comp last season. I insisted on making a death gate as a 'way out in case of emergencies...'
Yeah. It worked for our first one-hundred fifty or so battles. Then I clicked it when I meant to throw down a DnD. Oops. I watched my buddy beat the priest/warlock (what the hell is that comp anyway?) into a bloody pulp on his screen. Lucky bastard always gets the easy fights.

It's a mana drain team that usually has a disc priest and an aff lock for unstable affliction so you can't cleanse the dots. They wear you down and destroy your healers mana.

During this season, I played with my 2s partner (DK/Ret) and we're trying to see how far we can go.

We enter the arena and we see a Paladin + stealthed team. Assuming it's a druid, at best a rogue, we both jump the Paladin. He bubbles and we're still waiting for the rogue/druid to pop up. After a minute, we trounce him and match is over.

I'm looking at the board, dumbfounded and wondering what the hell just happened, my partner speaks on Vent and she says, "I think his teammate dropped......yay!!"

Easiest 7 points earned.

Me and Danaomia, my esteemed RP-hating but still bro MS warrior partner were fighting a lock/priest team. I die, and at the exact same moment Dan pops bladestorm with all his business going and shits on the priest. Lock is at 100%, Dan is at 30%, he pops shield wall, enraged regen, and go balls>wall and shits all over the warlock. They are both within literally one swing or spell of dying, the lock fears Dan, and rend pwns the lock's face. Most epic story of my partner making up for my fail ever.

Im really new to arenas, and this was one of my first arena matches. With 400 resil (yes i had no pvp gear to speak of other than old 70 shit from bgs...ive acquired a bit more since then however) I was able to heal myself through a dk and rogue. No...I wasn't running around a pillar...I was standing on that middle pillar in the bridge one (i don't really pay much attention to what the names are of the arena places). I honestly don't know how I was able to do it. I suppose it was well timed trinket use and well CC between my partner and I.

Here I am screaming..."GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!!! KILL IT KILL IT!!!!" Im slapping the keyboard like a two year old, hitting every HoT, sheild, renew, cookie, trinket I could. The whole jumping down thing just totally escaped me as I was too paniced by the gang bang i was experiencing. We got like 32 pts for that one. I felt like superma....errr woman. Untill my partner was like..."hey...dumbass, you know you are allowed to move." we got pretty lucky. I love my arena partner :)

On my paladin in 2's with my healer friend, we go in against a hunter/warlock combo and it should have been easy... cept healer friend was still ele and not resto -.-

So hunter kills my partner as Im beating down the warlock since he neglected to tell me he was resto and I thought he could handle it.

Warlock dies, my partner dies and all of the sudden hes yelling "WIN! KILL THE HUNTER"

So Me and the hunter duke it out waste a few cds and Ive got him down to about 5%... and he feigns death... one of my worse moments in my arena career... My fist goes up in victory cause I think I got him and all of the sudden hes up and blows apart my 20% health... before I can get my hand back down to keep fighting... /sigh...

Myself and my frost mage partner encountered this Hunter/DK team a couple times in one night. In each fight, my mage friend seemed to always end up getting toasted by the DK, but given my awesome tankadin powers, I always end up completely steamrolling the hunter and duking it out with the DK, with each battle going to me.

I think those two were breaking their keyboards that night trying to kill me.

Recently Geof, Rohan, and I were doing arenas in the TNG ventrilo. Bellow us Cyrass, Carrowyn, and Coldstream were doing arenas too.

We ended up against each other and they won, and apparently, from our defeat got their 10-games-in-a-row winning streak achievement.

Do your research next time.

I understand that it might have been inflammatory in measure and that I knew none of you would care.

REGARDLESS, I'd rather not have any gray area in this thread because the moment there is some, I know that people wont be able to hold onto their epeens.

BUT - If Fhen thinks this wont get out of hand, then so be it. I, however, have lesser expectations of some of the posters here.

I'm inclined to say that names being used is cool unless done in an inflammatory manner, especially in cases like the above when it'd make an anecdote cool when it otherwise might not be so.

I'll agree that the rules for use of names should probably be a bit tighter for this thread though, since stories like the above could much more easily find their way into senseless epeen waving if the the first poster of the story had been the winner.

Basically, nab permission like Rethius did. If you can't get permission from the players directly, shoot the post to me in a PM first if you're not sure and I'll make sure it's cool.

As for a story -

Anyone face any teams where they are quad/quint boxing?

I've gone against about two or three in fives.

Now, imagine yourself coming up the hole in the Orgrimmar arena. You're getting hyped, pushing 2200 and the team who should award you 15 points to get you only 10 or 12 points from your goal ends up being FOUR RET PALADINS AND A BLOOD DEATHKNIGHT!

We were all in shock and awe to see this. They all started with the same name so.. What the fuck do we do?

Well, needless to say in the confusion, the Ret Pallys all pop their wings at once and basically one shot Dio.. Then Mahk, then Yat.. and so on.

Lost 15 points to a quint boxer.

We saw him 3 or 4 more times that night and won our 15 points back. Achilles heal - Deathknight.

*facepalm*

Gonna add that to the rules for you, Fhen.

The quotation marks and quote itself are all kinds of borked in the OP. o_O If you want a blurb from me for the opening post, go with something like this:

"Rules for usage of names and stories involving other players, particularly of those from the opposite faction, are on a bit of a tighter leash for this thread. When using names, be sure to be tactful and respectful. Also, try to secure permission from any opposing parties ahead of time, and failing that check with Fhenrir before making the post to ensure it won't go over poorly. Or just edit names out."
