I've been playing around with what PvP Talent Spec I want on my Gnome Mage once I level her up.
I was thinking of the following for World PvP (Which is why I wanted Blastwave so much - Dismounting people incredibly fun).

0/27/44

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Arcane's a much better minor tree if you actually want to do more than run around and Blastwave people off cliffs and mounts.

By not taking the final six points in frost and not going into arcane, you're missing 11% ice lance damage and 17% frostbolt damage (assuming that since you're a frost mage, TtW is going to be up). While Deep Freeze is a 30 sec CD before talents, a reliable stun that isn't a product of RNG is better than Impact and is actually long enough for you to actually do something with. Also, you'll be a lot better off having Improved Counterspell. Having a silence, even without a school lockout is very useful.

This is what I'd suggest: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#of0ff0McZZAIbIobu0fdMfot:mbh

I use glyph of Poly because if I'm taking the time to Poly something, it better damn well stick.

Yeah, having neither Improved Counterspell nor Deep Freeze is going to make killing healers before they run you out of mana a pain in the ass. Impact will help a little, but... I'd rather have one or both of the other two.

I think Master of Elements is usually a PvE talent, as PvP tends to be less about mana conserve, and more about control and kill. Since it's not for arenas, you'll have your gem and potions to play with. Having Flame Throwing to help with Fire Blast's crap all range would probably be more useful, especially since you're going to find yourself using Impact a lot.

Blast Wave makes me rage sometimes because the knockback distance on it seems so short compared to Thunderstorm and Typhoon, making it a lot harder to throw people off fun things like the Lumber Mill and the flag in EotS, but I can't argue with the appeal of dismounting flyers when you can get close enough. Since you're more interested in the spec for the bag o' tricks than anything else, you can do whatever you want, really, but it does lack a reliable lockdown.

Wait, why the hell am I giving you advice?!

Cat, same with your DK..

I say stick with something Cookie cutter until you're absolutely sure you know the synergies of abilities :)

Like your DK you've messed around with -lots- of builds but never fully fleshed one out (like a cookie cutter) you've always had some mixing here and there and honestly, and I think Irontoe will back me on this :P.. you would probably be invulnerable with a cookie cutter.. and then you could view and see how the different synergies take ahold.

Still, you have a brilliant mind for specs and you've made some definite things you're own and I'm sure once 3.2 comes out we'll see even more goodies from your current blood/UH build :)

But, KISS: Keep it simple stupid :P seems to fit nicely here. Always good to evaluate what you have.. but even better to go down what 'everyone thinks works best' and tweaking it -off- that.. rather than saying "I don't want to do that" and never experiencing them :)

In this particular case, that is my main concern. =P
I already planned for the talent tree you linked me to be my main spec, while the one I came up with to be my offspec.

The one I suggested is purely for fun and is not designed to be the best of the best in what one would consider a normal situation.

I'm well aware of the drawbacks to not dipping into the Arcane Tree some as a Frost Mage.

I made this "alternative" spec as a way of, well, pissing people off and then running the hell away. :P

The ONLY reason I went into the Fire tree at all was for Blastwave - which fulfils my main way of annoying enemies - dismounting them and then watching them fall to their death. Blazing Speed in conjunction with Ice Barrier, Shattered Barrier and the Water Elemental makes it easier to run the heck away when I've fulfilled that goal.

So yeah, don't take the spec I made too seriously. :P

Thanks to sheer dumb luck, I managed to find a recent movie of someone who tried out the spec I mentioned.

Doesn't seem to bad from these clips for what I want to achieve with it.
To add insult to the injury, he uses level 60 raiding gear against whatever 80's he comes across.... hehe.

Apparently the movie was released 3 days ago... 2 days after I created this thread.
Coincidence? Who knows. =P
