So there's this poll (http://www.paleycenter.org/star-trek-smackdown/#poll) posted at the Paley Center for Media Studies, and they will have a special debate the day before the new Star Trek movie opens on whether Kirk is the ultimate space captain, or the winner of the poll is.
And so far, Jack MacGuyver from SG1 is winning. WHAT. THE. SHIT.
So go vote for someone better (Bill Adama) and pass this on to your friends to vote for someone better (Bill Adama) and have them pass it on to their friends to vote for someone better (Bill Adama) and...
*takes a breath* What do you think of this? Aside from new-school Adama (and old-school!) I especially like Sisko (DAMN can that man act!), Crichton (aside from being insanely hot he was...just totally insane in insaneoworld,) and....ok, not Sheridan, even tho he managed to rally the troops not once but TWICE against the most powerful forces in the universe (or at least according to humans...) but dammit, Delenn should be on there because, you know, she had the coolest fucking monologue ever on a sci fi show. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vomOpwgyLBA) Seriously.

Had to go with Picard over Adama. Adama has a tendency to be human, and that's not always the best option for winning sci-fi battles. Now if they had done captain + 1st officer comparisons, I'd take Adama + Tigh in a heartbeat. Out of all of those, the only cpt + 1st mate that even shakes a stick at Adama and Tigh is Kirk + Spock.

Two Septembers ago, while working in MOPP level 4, my army ex-girlfriend and Navy-best Friend and I came up with a game. It started by her calling me Captain Kirk's Klingon Space Ranging Yeoman Sex Slave because of how ridiculous it looks to do administration work in MOPP level 4. She said being Captain Kirk's sex slave is like being in an exclusive club numbering in only a few hundred, and that he can get us hotel discounts by seducing the managers. The downside, she said, was that he never calls you again or returns your calls. Thus, I concluded, you just end up feeling used and somewhat icky. It's the Spunk that will never wash out because you know you've been marked. Everyone can tell. You got Kirk'd.
Thus was brought the idea of "You got Kirk'd!" being a game show. Kind of like "Punk'd" Only it's where the Legendary James T. Kirk goes around inducting unsuspecting pieces of ass into his van of Shame, driven by none other than Mr. T. So it's like Bang Bus, but instead of leaving the victims naked, he drops them in the middle of public places wearing Star Fleet uniforms.
So yeah.. Go Shatner.

Nice post Enheilras.
The people taking this poll are obviously victims of oxygen deprevation. I voted Picard. I find it funny the guy in second only has a descriptive entry of "yeah right" as in implying it is a joke he is even listed.

By the way:

this is MOPP4. It's full chemical/biological/radiological environmental gear.
Also, MacGuyver has nearly 60% of the vote. This is Landslide victory.

The old Adama?! REALLY?!
Harsh criticism ahead: SG-1 is so fucking bad I can't even conceive of how people enjoy it.

YICHI do I need to explain this to you? Its like b movies. Sometimes, bad stuff is so bad, its good.
SG-1, at least in its first couple of seasons, was so horribly written and acted, that it was AWESOME.
I MISS O'NEAL!

I voted for Crichton because he was insanely hot and I looooved Farscape. Plus, it's the only show I've seen on that list...

I had to go with Janeway. She'd out-captain Picard, too. At least she's ahead of quantum trek.
And SG1 was a great show. Shove off.
Atlantis...not so much.

Janeway couldnt captain her way out of a wet paper bag if I gave her a chainsaw.
PS: Agrees with Yichimet about SG1 and the old Adama.

MACGUYVER...IN...SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCEEEEE
...but without the mullet. LAME. And more people were hot for Daniel Jackson anyway.
Crichton is all FUCK YEAH! But the video clip they picked for him is ATTROCIOUS.

I loved SG-1, but I don't consider someone who wanders through a portal a "captain" in the same sense as someone who's in charge of thousands of peoples lives on a FTL-speed ship!

Jonathon Archer's forehead could deflect bullets from the looks of it... and it scared me away from voting.

What's the biggest notable forehead you've ever seen? Summer Glau is up there with Mikhail Gorbachev, can't think of any others off the top of my head (so to speak).

Eh, he just has a big face. The forehead doesn't stand out. It's like saying that an elephant has large feet.
