There are moments in PVP, moments that are so glorious, so EPIC in scope and feel, that the memory of that timeless moment is forever seared upon your soul and the telling of the tale brings forth joy deep within ones self for all to know.

Last night was almost one of those moments.

I was questing in the Borean Tundra, helping out the fine Gnomes at Fizzcrank Airstrip by venturing over to The Geyser Fields to fetch the head of Gearmaster Mechazod. I cut a pretty wide swath on my way to the platform where Mechazod lived, and was commenting to some guildmates over vent about how incredible it was to be dealing out hefty damage as Prot and AOE grinding the wayward robots and mechanical gnomes and that I would ding 71 in no time...

Suddenly a level 80 Tauren Hunter dove out of the sky and started blasting away at me. I chugged one of the new Healing potions, popped Last Stand, and Charged the Hunter to try and show him that I wasn't going to just sit there and be ganked without taking a scratch. I started my stun cycle off with a Concussion Blow, then slapped a couple of Devastates on him, Improved Revenge procced to stun him for a few seconds more, and then as he Wingclipped me to get some distance and finish me off I unleashed Shockwave. He fell over dead.

Naturally I start to scream on vent about how amazing I am, there has never been anyone better than myself, that I do - IN FACT - piss excellance every morning, and what a hysterical noob that Hunter was and that I was going to camp him for the rest of my life.

Then a level 80 Night Elf Hunter jumped down from the platform above me and said "You're welcome."

:(

Anyone else have boneheaded PVP stories?

Bahahaha awesome.

Of course I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't need him, prot is pretty overpowered in PvP as of now.

Never underestimate mid or low 70s as an 80...unless you're in epics/80 blues, their gear is proportionally better, meaning they can do significant damage to you.

I forget how many times I was ganked by people 5 levels lower than me when I was either recently 80 or closely approaching it, but it was a lot.

Now I'd like to think that perhaps the Tauren didn't pay attention to his combat log and released before he saw "my Hero" and will spend the rest of his days running like hell from every Alliance he encounters wearing a shield.

I'd like to think that.

I'll have to think about all of my various epic encounters and try to imagine one that ended in a horribly facepalm-worthy moment. Which isn't easy to do, after all, considering how amazing I am.

Kaldore, why aren't you online or in vent?!

Well there was this Death Knight yesterday, level 80. Full health, I'm on my badly specced ret pally (I'm just leveling him, he'll get a real spec when he hits 80... it's just a ret/holy spec for leveling atm).
(I'm level 76 atm)

Well he /rudes me so I drop repentence on him. I use avenging wrath because I know otherwise I'm probably dead. I do the normal rotation: Judgement of Justice, Crusader Strike, Divine Storm, Hammer of Justice, Judgement of Justice, Crusader Strike Divine Storm, Judgement of Justice, etc.

He keeps using chains of ice on me and I of course use hand of freedom to get out, and drop a cleanse on myself now and then to reduce damage done to me. He gets me to 40% before he keels over dead.

Paladins are SO OP.

I was doing my dailies out in the Storm Peaks and had just stripped down nude to kick the ass of the Proto Drake (It's the only way to fly!) when I got attacked by a mage. I promptly thunderstormed him off the peak I was standing on and watched as he immediately blew slowfall and sent himself flying out even further. I know he would have just iceblocked before he hit the ground, but seeing that slowfall fade and watching him drop like a rock was priceless.

Never saw him again.

Prot is easy in PvP if you know what you're doing.

Rogues eat them like sammiches....
