I've already asked two good rogue pvpers but I'ma keep asking. :) Is there any viable way to play this rogue spec as pvp?

No. But here's a build (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fhe0oe0oZMxAdMbxq0urGoZc) anyway. I assume you're swords, otherwise replace sword spec with whatever is applicable.

(mut is better wtf wrong witchu)

Well... there's a reason for that hon :P

I'd just play whatever you find fun, don't mind other people. But if you want to get serious with arena at 80, you pretty much have to be mutilate.

Combat is REALLY more of a PvE spec, if you want to PvP you're going to have to do a combination of Sub/Assas, Assas/Sub, or Assas/Combat. Combat may have a nice damage output but you're just too easy of a target.

Seal Fate+Fist Weapon Combat+whatever other shit you want isn't a bad one either.

Oh I know it's the best for sure. I was dueling someone's (;) Illisade) DK the other day and I won probably 75% of the duels. But, at some point I would like to toy around with combat even if it sucks comparitively.

Using an off spec usually throws people off. Works real well, actually.

Combat. Always will be. PvP or PvE.

Never have any problems with it. Specially with some of the added talents. Fan of knives interrupt is good during BG's. Only thing I don't recommend it for is Arena. Go with the bandwagon specs if your doing that. Otherwise go with what fits your play style.

I do well with combat. You might not. Always good to test things though.

You. Could probably. Use more. Periods. Barke. Your sentences. They are easily too. Long.

:D

Pretty much agreed with Mut or bust for arenas, though I admittedly haven't had the opportunity to play as or talk with any rogues who do areas extensively so far.

Dae is/was doing arena and I talked with him. The mut build seems to be needed for it.

Don't harrass my choice of sentence structure!

The main problem right now is that the burst damage of mut or sub daggers is basically a requirement with the way that arenas are going right now, and sub daggers has to deal with positional requirements while moving the same speed (slower than pallies, droods, and some dk's) as everyone else. Kitty druids get around that problem by moving faster than people. Mut rogues got around it the same way...and then they lost the positional requirement. Not placing fleet-footed into the sub tree is a pretty glaring oversight in my opinion given the changes they made to mut and the things that stayed the same with backstab. You can get ff in a sub daggers build, but it costs you the talent that actually makes backstabbing effective from an energy to damage standpoint.

So...

I'm mut, even though I don't like it that much, because I've finally reached the point where my pride/righteous fury about how blizzard has done things no longer makes me feel better while staring at my own corpse.

Maybe thats cuz you have an ugly corpse. Why not dress yourself up better before you die, highlight some of your features a little?

I heard rogues overall kinda got the shaft in this expansion however, would that be true or false? I've got a friend playing a rogue, and they're having a bit of difficult deciding which way to go for either pvp or pve. Part of this is because they suck, but I was curious if they were having other issues regardless.

PvE? They need some help. For the lack of utility they have, their DPS is pretty middle ground.

PvP? Rogues are fine. They have obscene burst damage and control, and to pay for it they're squishy. They're most successful with other high burst damage and squishy partners to get in, get the job done, and get out. Rogue/Healer is a thing of the past for the most part.

Oh yeah. If your not doing arena than any spec you choose is viable. The only place it -really- matters is in there. Controlled pvp based around small groups instead of a BG/World. I really like combat for pvp for its multi-target utilities.

While I may not kill someone I can piss off an entire group and set them abck on healing and stuffs.

I was mut before it was cool and now that it's cool I can't stand the rogue class anymore. I are broken. My biggest gripe with the expansion is that they didn't change how we play at all. I don't mind not being retardedly powerful in pvp or pve, but as someone who's been playing a rogue forever and a half it's just gotten really old.

Back on topic.

The biggest problem with going deep combat for pvp at this point is that your main moneymakers are 'long' CD's. I put the quotation marks there cause they aren't long CD's for a BG, but for arena's 2 minutes is forever. If your enemies live through em, well you're still a rogue, but you don't have the mobility, control, or striking power of the other trees which are less reliant on CD's like murderspree + BF for pounding multiple targets and then a good old adrenaline rush SS spam to rape a single enemy.

My two cents.

Can you do it? Probably. Is it gonna match up with the more popular specs on a competitive level? Probably not. I was backwards and liked swords at 60 when daggers were popular, and then went daggers when everyone else was looking to AR/Prep and ShS Hemo, I'm sure most folks who know me on here can vouch that was pretty good in a duel and in world pvp / bg's but my highest arena rating was 1700. Mut marks and holy priest in s1/s2 and then my team mates quit when they started to get nice buffs... *sigh* Good players just not the right builds.
