So as to not clutter Fhen's PvP thread:

I think WG is horrible. I have only had a few experiences there. One was an even-side (no tenacity buff) where we came out of Naxx 25, went to WG and won in about 3 minutes through a decently well organized raid-zerg. Half my other experiences have been "Take portal => run to where the fighting is => cast wrath => wave hands while nothing is happening => 'You are dead, your insignia has been taken'" rinse and repeat. OR where one side outnumbers the other. Tenacity is great, but it doesn't really overcome massive numbers.

Lag in WG is terrible (even when I am not dying before I can cast) and healers have no place in there (we are just honor farms for the other side - true in pretty much all PvP right now). The one thing I like - the wall cannons.

EDIT:

QQ over, back to your regularly scheduled programming. I think that WG would be a blast as DPS and/or without lag problems.

I love Wintergrasp, what are you talking about?

Wintergrasp is amazing until the server gets overloaded and the lag hits. Tenacity is strong enough right now that the side with better strategy will win, whereas before it was so out of hand that whoever had tenacity basically won for free.

But that's pretty much true for everything -- PvP is great until the lag hits. I don't mind losing (that's a lie) but when it's from something completely out of my control, and for that matter, completely out of my competition's control, it cheapens the whole thing.

I havent once had lag there. WG FTW! And Fynne next time I see you in WG I will have a lock of your hair as a prize you femme bastardo!

You didn't get one the last time? There were like thirty billion of you and you were ALL ANGRY; all I saw was "Cristok growls" and then it was insignia-taken time. ;)

But with regard to lag, yeah, it gets nuts when the big battles get going. We've won (and lost) at least a dozen times because of server-side lag where someone will click the relic completely unmolested because our attacks won't start. I'm just sitting there standing next to them waiting for mutilate to go off, and then ten seconds later, "The Horde have won Wintergrasp!" or whatever it says.

But, like I said, Alliance do it too. It cheapens the whole thing. = (

I like the strategy aspect when the catapults start rolling in and flamethrowing the room to make room for infantry to move in and capture the relic. It's much more, you know, involved than the strategy of "can I click this thing before anyone's spell can get off at me through the lag?"

If both sides are competent, 3-minute zergs don't work. If you steamroll one side, then that side sucked, just like if you steamroll someone in BGs, they sucked.

With teams of equal size, competence, and gear, it's a GREAT experience with lots of depth of strategy.

So that 30 Horde vs 15 Alliance was because teh Alliance just sucked?... :o

I used to LOVE Wintergrasp back before everyone and their grandma picked it up. Now the standard ones I seem to participate in seem to go like this:

1. 5 minutes beforehand, the raid forms. There are 15 of us.
2. Wintergrasp starts, I get ported out for some reason and some asshat has stolen my turret I was sitting on, waiting for.
3. I notice we have 6 stacks of tenacity and take to the ground instead of trying to steal another turret because I am not a simpleton and can do basic arithmetic and understand that I have more HP and do more damage than the catapults.
4. It doesn't matter because 12 of them just fried my ass while the other 4 horde that have shown up sit /afk.
5. 3 more minutes in, Alliance are in the inner keep. 30 more horde show up screaming "OMG HORDE SUKK WHY ARE THEY IN OUR BASEZ KILLIN US DOODZ??!?!?". We now have 1 stack of tenacity (when we are actually using it...on foot) because of the 30 other lazy latecomers.
6. We lose.

I've not been finding I lose so much. A small, organized strike team seems to do a lot better than a big, disorganized force. Even when the enemy has tenacity. You can cause enough disruptions and spread out the Alliance/Horde forces enough to either slow them down or divert their attention temporarily.

Though I do agree with the sentiment of healers being by and large useless in PvP in Wrath. If we were able to heal vehicles then it wouldn't be the case nearly so much. I get frustrated in WG when I toss a chain heal and the second target it bounces to is a vehicle, which just returns an "immune" and prevents the heal from bouncing to anybody else. Ugh.

I find healers are useful as passengers in the vehicles, healing anyone near you then when the thing pops and they go for the gooy goodness inside, I heal bot and run away, kiting them from doing anything useful for a few minutes. Hopefully the pilot gets away too!

Wintergrasp is great! The vehicle combat is pretty fun, but I love finding a great wall to stand behind and watching the mad honor fly by.

I love Wintergrasp when it works, win or lose. What I hate is when you get two full horde raids (and a few extras) and likely two full alliance raids (and a few extras) and like Fynne mentioned above, you're pretty much stuck watching a nice slide show.

And then the server crashes and resets the timer so the alliance victory turns into a horde one (true story, I was there for that one).

If the servers could handle 200ish people running around in the same location it would be perfect. Hopefully that would also fix the problem of not always getting the marks of honor whether you win or lose.
