Alrighty, I've been trying to poke around on my own and have been coming up with a bit of a loss. (I have asked a couple of people I know as well) So I thought I would toss it out here.

I have a death knight. I have every intention of RPing with him as well. Hell I have at least one story in mind that I want to do. But, before I do I would like to finish straightening out some things in my mind.

Tauren and Deathknight just don't click very well for me. I am having issues wrapping my head around it. lol

For a background I was thinking that he would have been a warrior and more fighting minded instead of a shaman or a druid and nature/earthmother oriented. Going with the former in stead of the latter helps keep my brain from melting. The character is/was pretty hate filled and now that he is a free deathknight isn't all that ashamed of what he is now. He is stronger then he was when he was turned and that is all he really sees.

My biggest issue though is that in order to do the first story I have in mind I need to figure out how it is that he went from simple warrior to deathknight.

Are there any thoughts on this? Maybe some lore like links I can read? No matter what his story is going to get a bit of a spin. He is going to be a nasty ass character, and a pretty horrid guy over all, and his personality is going to show it.

I'm just trying to iron out some gaping story holes and inspiration gaps.

TIA

He was working for the Argent Dawn and fell in Naxramas.

This. Remember, most did not "choose" to become a death knight. Some have "sought" the powers, but most did not make the pick willingly.

Well .... there's my basic background for my Tauren DK ....

1) He's the brother of my hunter Kerchak.

2) He fell during Hyjal, and was put to work shortly recalling the Undead, after Archimonde's defeat.

3) After that he returned to Northrend, and slowly raised in "rank" to DK.

4) Now his back and looking for his brother Kerchak .... When Tavak (DK) fall, his brother was near him and he (Tavak) hopes, that Kerchak didn't fall like himself.

Can you please expand on this for me Emmons? Or give me a link? Other then the build up for the expansion I haven't seen Taurens with the argent dawn tabard. I am trying to keep the basis fairly simple and straight forward.

I can easily see this character having fallen in battle. He isn't going to have really gone searching for this power specifically. But, being a born fighter he would have been hell bent on proving himself, at least in his own right.

[edit] Zarja that is a similar to what I had been roughly thinking of for my DK (after talking with a friend) only there are some serious differences. He fell in battle during the third war (?),his ghoul is going to be his more recently deceased brother and he might be tracking down any living relatives to see if they are living up to his (twisted) ideas of honor and strength. I just want to make sure I have some basic facts straight.

Well, my plan is more of a returning to glory, Tavak's fallen both in body and soul, and now that he's free of the lich king, He'll be trying to prove himself to all other races/classes that he is himself again, as it was before the third war.

If we all recall, the scourge was working for the Burning Legion at the time :P

Thank you Brox. :)

I don't know if the argent dawn would be a good fit for him. I'm going to kick it around some but it kind of feel like trying to put a square peg in a round hole if you know what I mean.

If you did want at shaman/druid background it could be along the lines of the Lich King corrupting the nature "magic" of the character. This might make more sense if you treat nature as an "entity" unto itself (a la DnD) rather than a specific domain of a god. It seems to me that Loatheb in Naxx could be an example of a corrupted piece of nature.

You could treat the under the influence of the Lich King portion of history as being a force to blight the land or such (an anti-druid perhaps) and then roleplay the "redeemed" death knight as trying to make amends for the destruction wrought earlier.

But yeah, I have a hard time picturing Tauren death knights myself.

Edit: As far as Tauren's with the Argent Dawn tabbard, I haven't noticed any. But there is a Tauren druid at Light's Hope affiliated with another faction; I don't remember his name though.

There are Tauren Argent Crusaders all over Northrend.

And that is with the opening of Wrath Irontoe. I was pointing out what I had personally *not* seen pre Wrath. Which knowledge and experience pertains to why I asked, and Broxigan delivered.

Please do not Troll. I asked an honest question and got my answer.

Really the only thing required of a Death Knight is that they either "died" somewhere in the general area of the Scourge or went to Northrend and recieved their power directly from the Lich King. Death to the Scourge could happen in the Plagelands, in Naxx itself, or really anywhere else the Scourge have a presence. Since we had the invasion event before Wrath came out, it could even happen then. Death during an earlier war is also certainly possible.

Second thing to keep in mind is that Northrend was perfectly accessible before WotLK came out, it's just people weren't sending expeditions. Single adventurers (or even small groups) could certainly have hired a ship to take them in close enough to row/sail to shore. Goblins will do *anything* for a price.

Grimtotem seeking vengance against those who dig up their ancestral burial grounds. Seems believable to me.

First off Tauren death knights would have to re learn about the Earth Mother..until then there would be an aura about them that most tauren would pity. But as to how a tauren could be a death knight, simply dying fighting the scourge. any class really could become a death knight...if you think about it your talent tree could give you an idea as to what your death knight did in his past life. basicly warrior dps or healing as it were
He or she would have lost the connection with the Earth mother and The Great Hunt! These are things i keep in mind when i rp my tauren death knight. there might be some leftovers from being with the scourge mentally that would mess things up for the tauren in general.. basicly it's a mind f*** mind set if you wish to think of a way to play a death knight of any race...the only ones that would not really have a problem would be the undead it would be seen as an annoying time in their life and would want to get on with things as they were as soon as possible
