View Full Version : TN is a RP-PVP server. TNG is a RP site.

Ok. You picked this server. You knew Twisting Nether was a PVP server when you rolled here. If you can't handle some other person killing your character over and over and over, then you probably should have picked a different one.
TNG is an site to promote RP.
RP and PvP (not or) on TN.
RP on TNG. No PvP.
Ok, yes, there's a PVP section to talk about the mechanics of PVP, but there is absolutely nowhere on this site dedicated to dick wagging, name calling, or crying about someone else killing you.
There is a language barrier between the factions for a reason. Why? Because a lot of people cannot handle getting killed IN a game and have to take it OUT of the game and onto forums or, it seems, lately, PM's on TNG.
If someone starts harrassing you on TNG through PM's (doesn't even need to be PVP smacktalk), please let me know. I will put a stop to it. I don't have any way of knowing about it unless you tell me. People should be able to come here and RP without worrying about getting an inbox full of stupidity because someone has an emotional episode about something that happened in a game.

I have always in the past let friendly "hey, good fight @so-n-so" type posts stay on the site because PVP is fun and it is nice when people treat the game like a game. I have let people post about faction leader kills "even" if they were done at 4am because I think of them as more of a PVE type thing than a PVP thing due to the servers not being capable of handling that many people doing PVP in cities.
When I saw Cristok's post, a couple of alliance had replied and nodded their approval. Probably if I had caught it before anyone replied I would have removed it because it does violate the rule I posted in this thread a couple weeks ago. So I decided to leave it and see how it went.
Mal caught it when it blew up, and (I felt) he did a good job of growling at people to stay in the spirit of the competition, so I let it stay there again, even though I still had reservations.
Anyway.
I'm tired of the fact that pretty much EVERY time I've let something slide because I think ya'll are capable of treating the game like a game and not getting bent out of shape when you lose, I've been bitten with a PM box full of "he said-she said", "...and you wonder why Alliance don't post here", and "hey, this mod is BIASED, fire him/her".
Well, no more.
From here on out, even if JoeHorde posts a "hey SamAlliance, that was some nice 1-on-1 in EPL", it will have to be deleted.
To the 90% of you that can keep things in perspective, I apologise.

Is making these sort of "hey, good fight!" comments on people's personal pages ok? I use that a lot to give props where props are due, out of the spotlight of people who explode over PvP. We cool?

as long as I don't get PM's about it, it sounds reasonable to me.
Obviously posting "hey nice job 3-on-1 camping someone 10 levels lower than you" type posts are NOT ok.

Of course not. I have an extreme respect for people that go out and PvP on a PvP server, even if I'm on the losing end. While I wouldn't give PROPS to someone for such an unfair fight, I wouldn't complain about it. But sometimes you get locked in combat with someone, and it's a good, solid fight, where no matter who loses, taking part in it was worth it. That sort of thing I like to recognize.

And if we could just clone you, I wouldn't have this rule :)

I just filled out a long ass PM.
And it made me realize WHY people can't talk about PVP here.
It's not the original posts. People get excited, say things they shouldn't say. Other people realize that those posts are bad and report it. A moderator stops by and makes the posts go away.
THIS IS THE POINT WHERE PEOPLE INVOLVED SHOULD EITHER STFU OR POST AN APOLOGY.
But no, someone will invariably reply to the deleted posts if the thread wasn't locked.
More moderation needed.
PM's gets sent accusing the mod of being biased.
I wake up in the morning and have to figure out WTF happened, figure out why my inbox is full of PM's and which threads they are complaining about (because most people don't bother linking to the post, because they think I've got ESP or something).
Read the admin section to see if the people who VOLUNTEER to help run this site have any insight on what's going on.
Continue the moderation spree if there is any bit of cancerous growth left so it doesn't flair up again.
Publically support my mods because you know...if they weren't here to help, I probably would have shut this site down a long time ago because it's too much for one person. My mods and myself, we are human, I don't think any one of us is swearing they will be 100% fair and even handed every time.
Usually they will post in admin section to have another mod look at such and such thread if they think they might be accused of being biased.
Which is all I ask of them.
THEN..if all this isn't enough, I have to answer all my PM's. Which can sometimes take hours as it goes back and forth.
THESE are the real reason there cannot be PVP talk on TNG.
