i enjoyed posting about hiring a priest in the 'gazette' for TN. and i liked that we could post about the public reception, engagement, what have you. and i see that other ppl use the forum for the same.

i roleplay TNG as an actual type of newspaper that goes around. i think that's what the intention was, right? so i wondered would there be a classified section? a roleplay classifieds section?


as a roleplayer, i make use of services like a priest for marriages, baby blessings, funerals. i'd love to see a magister roleplaying as a legal authority that would handle divorces, financial disagreements or other legal disputes like betrothals or arranged marriages or inheritances. but, i'd also love to see someone roleplaying a tattooist. or a body modification artist. or a poet or artist in the game. and i guess part of starting to get people to think about those things would be a services or classified section on the forums. maybe, anyway. it was just a thought i had over the last little while as i was preparing pearlle's wedding. i know the barbershop does piercings but i dunno, i'd kind of rather have a real person roleplaying it. what about a midwife or a baby doctor? i know ppl who are roleplaying these things, and other ppl who would like to meet up with them. and a lil ad might just help them connect in a roleplay sense.

it might also help characters define themselves too. "i am a priestess, but do i perform holy ceremonies on behalf of others?" - "i am a shaman but i also do blessings of a public nature" - "i am a killer for hire but i also run errands and a messenger service". things like that. "i make poison, contact me as Joefortissimo...but that is not my real name!"

I'm not sure if it's quite the same, but it could certainly be put to use or re-created.

There's always Krawl... RIGHT BROX?? ^_^ Krawl is Orgrimmar's best tattoo and body-mod artist.

What about a connections thread? A list of jobs and roles that people fill, people respond and then it gets updated by the original poster?

Kinda like how they do it for crafting classes, but for RP niches?

Yeah! Krawl is my bank alt. He is an RP tattoo artist and such. I even have him with a guild called <Tattoo Artist> XD

Yeah, I've put several classifieds up since I've been Rping here, and a seperate section would make it a whole lot easier for me, but meh...it's fine the way it is.

Fwiw, Carm is very experienced in Midwifery, in fact she assisted Tivian in delivering her baby. My mage is a Professor of lore and the Arts. I would make a list of specialties were there such a thread. I always assumed that there was a classified, which is how I have handled such posts in the past.

I think it's a smart idea, but such a thread can get VERY messy and would need constant maintanance(s/p?). Much like Ellsbeth stated. Catagorize things such as healers and their types and what they do. Assasin, body modificators/beauticians, Law, buisness, ect.

Threads like that need someone who loves categorising and constantly updating.

I do, but I know I peter out after about a month if it's not constantly active.

i'd say section more than thread. few rules and it would be fine. i don't think it would get so full that it would be quickly out of date. a few strict posts about rules, like that it should only be used for serious offers of services. and that individual threads there be started with tags, by actual ppl rather than having a discussion about the services, which would fit here more. i guess ppl could do it in the nether legends section, like we have been. i hope they start. there are services i'd like to see =) would have made hiring a priest for the wedding easier. and well, pearlle's not exactly religious and can't do any funerals really. and this whole counsellor thing. that would be good. and magistrates! any magistrates out there that wanna post about services? just would like to see more of that.

oh and a 'for sale' section...and a 'looking to buy'....and kor's already got a real estate section on our guild forums....*fades off, talking to herself*

If you want to offer your services, you could fill out the Character template and specify that you're looking for someone to hire you. Example:


Character: Sweeney Todd
Description: Middle-aged human barber, who has set up shop in Stormwind near the goblin barbershop. You'll find his shaves are much closer than theirs.
Looking for: Patrons. Folks who need a good shave.
Restrictions: Males and dwarf women only.
Level of RP desired: Light to heavy, one-time scenes or full-blown story arcs, doesn't matter. Don't underestimate the power a barber can bring to your story.
Misc. notes: Since players cannot shave other players, you'll need to use the goblin shop next door, but give Sweeney the credit.

just saw the 'reporter' character or what not and realized that's probably the best thing to do! i hope ppl do it then. i'd love to meet up with some tattooists or piercers, body modifiers. and some legal folks too! my character has money, let me spend it wastefully by giving it to players! would also love to look in the 'gazette' and see an ad for a baker. gotta have cake...
