Fabled Order
With the onset of the Cataclysm expansion and the conclusion of Wrath of the Lich King, preparations are underway to ensure the Fabled Order is ready for the new environments, races, dungeons, and battlegrounds that we will see.
What is the Fabled Order?
The Fabled Order is a role-playing guild that has been established on the Twisting Nether server since the first days of The Burning Crusade. It is a military-styled organization, with emphasis on philosophy and discipline as a means of training members to face the threats of a harsh world and ensure the safety of its denizens. The Order serves the sovereign of the Alliance as a sword and a shield, culling the evil and corrupt that would seek to disrupt our way of life and defending those who are unable to defend themselves.
The primary philosophy of the Order is that of the Three Virtues of the Light: Respect, Tenacity, and Compassion. While the Three Virtues are an aspect of the religion of the Holy Light, it is not required that any member specifically follow the religion. Adhering to the philosophy is the primary factor in determining whether a member is suitable for the guild.
What is the general history of the Order?
The Fabled Order has enjoyed a rich and solid history, particularly during The Burning Crusade. In its original incarnation, the Order was a Paladin-only guild. When WotLK arrived, Death Knights were added to the roster for role-playing reasons. The Order partook in many world PvP events and continues to encourage members to enjoy that aspect of the game. As a very specific niche guild, it was difficult to complete PvE objectives with such a limited membership, though members found ways to enjoy this aspect in their own ways.
Over the course of its lifetime on the server, the Order has adapted to the new expansions in order to establish a stronger role-playing environment within the guild. With the announcement of Cataclysm, some changes have taken place, with future plans to implement additional ideas.
The most prevalent change to the guild is the inclusion of all classes and Alliance races into our ranks. The original idea of the guild was that of a chivalric order, admitting only Paladins as members, valiant Knights who sought to protect the innocent and strike down the wicked. With the addition of Death Knights to the game in WotLK, this guideline was amended to include those Death Knights that were once Paladins in life and fell in battle, serving the Light until their last breath. The Order became a place to give them a second chance at life and to continue to pursue the ideals they once upheld. Extending on this idea, the Order has opened its doors to all members of the Alliance who may hold themselves with the same ideals and goals that older members of the Order uphold.
Why such a change?
The reason for this change cannot be answered in a simple manner. A plethora of pros and cons have been weighed to determine this direction for the guild, and it was ultimately decided that such a decision would lead the guild to greater opportunities with what we wished to accomplish. The added diversity will create a greater array of role-playing opportunities and game-play options than the Order has seen in the past. If a Death Knight can overcome his or her corruption to serve the Light, then by no stretch of the imagination can any other class act in a similar manner. The class in which a character is labeled is not its sole defining characteristic that determines what a character is. It is only one facet of what is done with the character.
Unfortunately, this does mean the loss of a very unique aspect of the guild, though it is merely one aspect of a much grander picture. The role-playing aspect of the Order shall remain unchanged, as that is the most important characteristic that it possesses. The ideals and fundamentals that the Order upholds and practices shall not change. The banner of the Fabled Order that flies in the winds following a hearty victory or a tragic defeat shall stand for what it has always represented, though those that plant it may change over time.
What about PvP and PvE? What does the Order do?
Currently, the Order is recovering from a crippling drop in activity rates compared to earlier days. With renewed pools of potential recruits and a wider array of individuals to choose from, we look forward to a bright future in terms of enjoying the game. The primary focus of the guild is role-playing, and other aspects of the game will revolve around it. Whether it is an emphasis on completing PvP objectives, or storming the latest and greatest dungeon, we will offer a very open environment in which any member may enjoy the game. However, we expect our members to be active in playing the game, rather than simply indulging in the occasional role-playing tavern meet-n-greet.
Where can I find additional information on the Order?
I’m glad you asked! Anyone may visit our website here (www.fabled-order.com/forum/) and review our guidelines and expectations for members, as well as applications, member biographies, and role-playing stories. The website is somewhat bare at this time, as we are still working on it and adding new information over time. If you wish to fill out an application, then simply follow the instructions under the Applications forum. If you have any other questions, then you may contact Ignas here on the Twisting Nether Gazette, or another member in-game.
