I am posing the question as to whether or not a player may tweak official World of Warcraft lore that is largerly silent on certain subjects for the purpose of developing a characater?

According to Official Lore (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/races/dwarves.html) the dwarves were created by the Titans. (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/story/chapter1.html) Very little is known about the Titans and we can assume that the longer WoW exists the more we will learn. But since so very little is known about the Titans and the heritage of the dwarves just how flexible do you think the community would be with players in essence creating or at the very least manipulating the unknown for a character's development?

Do any of you take advantage of any lore silences for the sake of your role-play? I recall back when I played Ultima Online that some players were against players role-playing that their character was a direct decendent of Lord British or was somehow god-like.

What do you think? Discussion wanted but a poll is also available.

It depends on what you're looking to fill in, in my opinion.

Something so large and major as the titans would be something I'd be hesitant to do. Also, I refuse to play a character that impacted or had ANYTHING to do with any important storyline events.

Doesn't make me feel quite right.

I would say that the individual character has the right to fill in the holes of lore for themselves, considering this would also allow your RP to evolve into the world around it.
