The Cleansing of Atal'Hakkar

The dampness greeted the soldiers five;
as they readied themselves for their dive.
Newly arrived from Stonard camp;
with anticipation they neared the ramp.

Brinthus there was, his swords aglow;
and steadfast Lupa, with wolf and bow.
Veers took point, his shield so bright;
Swifthoof and Uttu brought Earthmother's might.

With courage and faith they made their way;
into the depths to save the day.
To take the head of Jammal'an, high priest;
and stop the return of the Soulflayer beast.

Through troll-filled halls and dragonkin vault;
the heroes mounted a relentless assault.
One by one statues were toppled;
and the temple idol's guardian faltered.

Acolytes shielding their master Jammal;
They were the next enemies to fall.
In falling they opened the way to the priest;
The High disciple of Hakkar, the Beast.

Slow and sure the heroes pressed on;
‘til they found the Priest, Jammal’an.
Great battle ensued, our heroes bled;
But in the end, Jammal lost his head.

Onward pressed the valiant five;
To stop Hakkar, from coming alive.
Finding him they slew the guards;
And quenched the fires with blood shards.

At last the demon himself appeared;
Indeed it was the Beast they feared.
Long and fierce the heroes fought;
Until at last Hakkar they caught.

The deed done they moved along;
To finish the cleansing and right the wrong.
Dragons there were, guards of old;
Who’s very souls Hakkar turned cold.

Weaver, Dreamscythe and the dragon Morphaz;
Each was slain, and finally Hazzaz.
The dragon shade Eranikus was awaiting our friends;
For the battle that would decide their ends.

The heroes five prevailed that night;
Against Eranikus’ dragonly might.
At last the group was able to cheer;
They freed the temple that night from fear.

The heroes admired the loot they had caught;
Well four did so, while one did not.
“Lupa,” voiced Brinthus an oldtime friend;
“are you not pleased with this end?”

“Tauren and forsaken you know Hakkar not”
“we trolls know well the evil he wrought”
Lupa stood and looked South East;
“I fear the ease with which we slew the Beast”

With a shake of her head she rejoined her mates;
To celebrate victory at Atal’Hakkar’s gates.
