I dont know if anyone has noticed but ever since my account expired about two weeks ago and I am facing the reality of not been able to login to the game, all that I do is frequent the forums and in particular this one. I frequent the forums because they give me a small fix on my WoW addiction. I did not notice it at first but since I left I have had this crack addict type withdrawal syndrome, I think about playing WoW every day and I troll the forums at any chance I get.

I left due to a number of reasons mainly because I no longer had enough time to play and the Timezone difference did not allow me to join in most events specialy on Sundays (18 hour difference) plus I also figured that 13 months on any game was too much but now other games dont seem to fill the gap. I know that if I go back to WoW I will begin to once again trash its monotonous gameplay mechanics and the endless grind while complaining that Blizzard has cheapened the Lore, but if I stay away it will haunt my thoughts day and night.

I need help, If I pay to play WoW it will only be for once a week and probably when everyone else is asleep so it will be a waste of money but it will be enough to give me the wow fix I crave.

Any coments or suggestions on what I should do?

If it stays a hobby that doesn't disrupt your relation with family, friends and work, why not start playing again?

I mean, if you really like this game... have fun!

Exactly!!

Monotonous grind? Roleplay.. Heck, I'll be level 60 by summer at the rate I'm going. I've done the 60 stuff before. I'm taking my time and enjoying EVERY quest and experience I can this time. That includes running through the Deadmines once a week to try to convince Bly he really does love me.. oh.. and the kitten.. mew.

I am not a big dungeon person/loot momma anyway. I've got all the time in the world to get to the top of my training.

Cheapened Lore? Roleplay your own lore.. make the world yours. Don't fret so much over it and enjoy it for the entertainment value.

Time difference - blah.. that kind of stinks.. but if you could manage before without a problem.. do it again!

If you aren't done with the game - don't leave. IF it wasn't screwing up the real world. Sometimes when I get the blahs with WoW.. a week vacation from it is a great way to earn back the love.

Thanks for you comments guys.

But the main problem remains that if I go back to WoW I would only be able to play once a week (two days at best). I am in Australia and as a result I also pay more money than the people in the US for the subscription.

Most events are now on Sundays (Monday for me) and that means that I wont be able to join in. Thanks to RL my situation has changed and no longer have the time to play like I used to.

What I am trying to do is balance the satisfaction of my WoW crack addiction with the reality that if I go back I will not be able to get the most out of it in both the RP and standard gameplay sense.

Should I go back just to satisfy the addiction?

I feel your pain Brakogar. I ask myself that same question every time my subscription is due, and so far I haven't been able to be away for more than a week or two. I live in the UK so by the time most people are logging out for the night, I'm just starting and if I want to be in raids and things, I end up having to stay up all night.

But I always come to the same conclusion. I enjoy playing WoW to relax and be goofy for a few hours a week when I'm not working. If I wasn't playing WoW I would prolly be spending more money on books that I would only read maybe twice or I would find another hobby that would take up that time. And we all know that new hobbies cost so much more than just continuing with the old.

Bah, I forgot what I was trying to say. So in short, Brakogar, if you enjoy playing this game, it isn't interfearing with your social/family life, I don't see a problem with comming back. Hey it is difficult to find a game that keeps your interest for (insert months played here).

But anywho, wish you luck in your decision.. I'm off to catch a plane and a few zz's.

Caelyn's very busy and tired player

Thank you Caelyn, It is terrible to be in a different Timezone than everyone else. I dont even have the luxury of playing during the night as US prime time for us begins at 4 am - 12pm (Aussie time). So it is always within work or daily duty hours.

What keeps me from playing is not social or family commitments, it is work. My work consumes a good amount of my time to the point that I can only play once a week when everyone is asleep or logging out.

Hell I am not even able to attend the Sunday events or the new Nether Council meetings times anymore because it is Monday morning for me.

Is it worth paying the monthly subscription fee for playing solo for only 4 (6 if lucky) two hourly sessions a month?
